  • A completely depressing track day

Okay this was my first trip to the track with my 3:42 gears and lsd. I thought id come away happy at the end of the night. But I was wrong lol. Here are my time slips I think they are self explanitory.

    First run (hot lap)

    2.379
    6.610
    10.141
    69.937
    13.197

    ET: 15.826
    MPH: 86.393

    Second run

    2.337
    6.553
    10.080
    69.991
    13.143

    ET: 15.789
    MPH: 85.721

Third run (attempted a wet burnout, didnt work)

    2.372
    6.646
    10.212
    68.853
    13.310

    ET: 15.986
    MPH: 84.306

Fourth run (attempted burnout again, but poo results still)

    2.447
    6.668
    10.206
    69.692
    13.282

    ET: 15.940
    MPH: 85.234

    -------------------------------------------------

WTF is up with this lol. Conditions were as follows. beggining of the day it was 65 decreasing to about 50 at night. Dont know the humidity. The track was unprepped or prepped lightly due to the fact that it was the wednesday fun drags. Tire psi was 25. Tread wear on rear tires is at about 65 percent. Running 88 octane at way less than a half tank. It was on empty the whole night. Umm thats all I can think about. Spare tire and jack were gone as well as all the trash thats usually back there.

I need some advice because at 300 + for my gears and install to see a negative gain is very unnerving. I understand you cant expect to drive a car thats newly modded ight the first time but I tried as best i could to launch, softer in the first two runs and harder in the last two. Anyone have some tips as to steps I could take? Perhaps better tires?

Nah the verter didnt get here yet, but im looking forward to it.

As to the octane ive been wondering about that myself. My 15.6 run was on a half tank of 93 with octane booster. But I had thought that higher octane was bad so I started with the lowest. I think ill try that next week.

In the last two I spun, probably in the 1st one too. Im used to pulling 2.2 60's but for some reason i was pulling consistent 2.3's and worse. This is on street tires mine you and an unprepped track so that may be a factor as well.

              Spinning will do that.
              2.3's to 2.4's 60 foots suck.
              Don't worry.
You can not always go out with new mods and expect to run new best's
              Hot lapping causes poor et's
Pop the hood and shut it off in between rounds.
              Front tire psi to 40
              Rear to 25-20 psi
              Up the octane
Poor track conditions will do that also :(
Find the groove on the track and launch in there.

thx for the tips, Ill try the 93 w/ some booster in it. I didnt know about the tire psi for the front so Ill change that as well. I might as well wait till a saturday TNT event where the track is fully prepped.

Lastly do you have any suggestions for my rear tires. I have BF Goodrich 245/50/17 they might be 65's actually but not sure. Whats a good tire for a 17" rear?
