  • Went back to the track today!

    Well the weather was OK.
Kinda cold, but raining off and on.
My previous best was a 16.2 NA and a 15.2 Nitrous (With a bad fuel pump)
I recently put on BMR Tubular control arms, LSD, and a poly Tranny mount.
Decided to try launching at 2500 RPM (Clutch dump) NA.

    Ran:
    r/t .608
    60' 2.287
    330 6.610
    1/8 10.233
    MPH 68.02
    1000 13.327
    1/4 15.921
    MPH 86.87

Got an ok launch. Still not sure how the car would be capable of a sub 2.0 60'.

Now came n2o (85 shot, dry)
    r/t .612
    60' 2.281
    330 6.360
    1/8 9.639
    MPH 76.24
    1000 12.401
    1/4 14.762
    MPH 95.79
Thats 1.2 seconds off on an 85 shot.

Made another n2o run, missed 3rd. Doh. 15.3

    Last n2o run:
    r/t .724
    60' 2.255
    330 6.230
    1/8 9.479
    1000 12.250
I was on track to pull at least a 14.5 but then my clutch slipped on me, and I shut it down
    1/4 14.711
    MPH 89.96

So I think it has at least a 14.5 in it on street tires.
I need some slicks so I can hit it off the line and maybe pull a sweet 60'

I got ready to do another NA run and launch at 3000RPM, but it rained. Oh well.
    Control arms rule.
Any advice is welcome. Yes I know I need to race at a better track. But its still fun.

      GREAT numbers!!!
That second nitrous pass would defaintely been your new best.
      I'd guess 14.5 or maybe 14.4?
Look at your 1/8 mile et's
      1/8 9.639 <---- first nitrous run
      1/8 9.479 <---- second nitrous run
Hell, you even knocked off .1 in your 330 between the first and second run on the bottle.

You are the one who runs at a very high elevation correct?

I still thing there is more in that car!!!
Sticky tires, maybe a bit of gear?
      Hit it sooner
      Who knows, maybe low 14's?

      Congrats!!!!!

Give me some idea what track conditions were, set up for car, when you hit nitrous, etc etc etc

I run at 3300 ft. The elevation is high but the weather is what sucks. WickedSix knows. Yesterday was finally cold (not by east coast standards) it was about 60* but the humitidy was wavering off and on 100% all day. I am tempted to take a road trip to a better track on of these days.

Next in the works I am planning slicks and a 1 pc. aluminum Driveshaft. Thats a few tenths right there from my stock 2 pc. Oh yeah and a new clutch. Then I will try for sub 2.0 60'.

There is more in the car for sure. Well, more in the launch. I did beat everyone I raced out of the hole. Many z-28s and a turbo TA. So I was happy with the way it launched, now I just have to launch it harder, i will need slicks for that.
