My rearend started making some funny noises after a powershift, on my way being late to class...
that was with street tires, and 3.23s and open diffy. Course I had some issues with fluid leakage and the rearend had over 100,000 miles on it.
I used to cut 2.2 60's, and low 16s, occasional high 15 with it.
Jsut depends how tough you are on it. If I were you I would start a fund with a decent amount of money and start looking for some options to upgrade too but I wouldn't worry too much, aren't others doing similar things to there rearends...
I have heard TA Girdles hielp, but I think they help more in keeping Diffy fluid cooler, then breakdown, might not be a bad idea, but I haven't reasearched it I am not too worried about fraggin my rearend.

Well, you have an auto and that is much more forgiving on parts...especially the rearend. My friend broke his stock 10 bolt (Driver's side axel) on a mostly stock 2000 Z28 6 speed. He only had drag radials, clutch, intake, and exhaust. It would have been a high 12 sec 1/4 mile time (He ran 13.05 the previous run, so we lowered his tire pressure and he launched at a higher rpm). His was a six speed though, so I bet your safe for a little while longer at least.Charles
98 Silver Firebird M5
whisper lid, K&N, whisper cold-air
RKSport cat-back
BMR LCA\'s, STB, panhard rod, tunnel brace
B&M ripper
15.376@89.92 2.267 60\'

Well, you are on borrowed time.
1.6's or quicker are stressing it.
I'd suggest the t/a girdle and stud kit.
I already have a decent amount set aside for a 12 bolt.
I might even need it before AIS if the bird is done shortly and I get many track passes soon.Race car - gone but not forgotten - 1997 firebird V6

Almost same thing happened to me. Intake, exhaust, gears (4.10's), shifter, and Nitto's. Lauching at near 4000 rpm that day and cutting pretty good 60' (1.9-1.8). Sometime that day (not sure when exactly) I ended up stripping off 4-5 teeth (luckily they still had a little piece of the teeth left). Drove on it like that for 3 months before I got my 12 bolt .
Normally I'd say 13.x and auto are fine, but et
streets and 1.6x 60' are gonna put some major stress back there.
