I think you could possibly take him.

How well does he drive?
How well do you drive?

Unload a little weight

Is he an auto or manual?

I beat a guy in a Z28 once by almost .7 on the tree, back around in the staging lanes he told me he was trying so hard to catch up he missed 3rd gear. Hey it happens.

Are we talkn street or strip? The street is a different world from the strip and there are many was to get an advantage.

He would have to drive pretty bad not to beat you, but go for it anyway, its still fun.

Get him off the line. I have beaten a lot of Zs with a crappy 15.9 timeslip, well I beat them across the finish line, they slept at the light and had a crappy launch. Still posted a slightly better time than I did.
If you take him off the line, you can hold your lead at least untill the 1.8th mile, then the v8 will start haulin *** and pullin on you.

Here is what I have learned:

1. people will always claim their best time as what they run, Its usually .2-.3 under their average

2. people will claim a time they ran on the street with their buddy holding a stop watch

3. reaction time will win you races, regardless of who ran the lower ET.

4. Some guy claiming a faster time and talkn smack but doesn't want to run probably never ran that time

5. If you unload "Tons of Alpine" you will be faster

6. Any time you out run a faster car, they cant understand why their car is runing so bad

7. On any given day any given combination of car and driver can win or lose, it happens

8. It doesn't matter how many times you beat a faster car, you still "got lucky"

9. If you race in reverse there is more driver skill involved

10. You never know until the flag man says go.

I have a couple of bud's that come to mind in this situation. One bought a 94 Z28 A4, the other a 95 Z28 M6. They both ran 15.0's@91 MPH just like they bought them. They both thought that high 13's and low 14's were just a trip to the track away. Reality said differently though.

My bud with the 95 Z28 M6 learned to drive the car and got 14.1's@99 MPH stock out of it then started modding, now runs mid 12's@110 MPH.

My bud with the 94 Z28 A4 ran a 14.2@97 MPH last time out since replaced his dying fuel pump, taking out his stock air filter with 90,000 miles on it and a replacing it with a CAI w/K&N.

Slow LT1's are very common, even the low mileage ones. Take mine, 32,000 miles on it, the power window died, my fuel pump died...

My guess is he is bs'ing you. How in the world would a person be worried about a car running mid 15's if your running almost 13's?

Go get him and give him a good run, good luck.

Be careful though, in all reality, a z-28 will smoke a stock v6. Seriously.

So we tried to race today, however we ran into traffic and decided to call it quits. I dont want to harm anyone else. When we did try to race I was on his tail the whole time we went from a 20 roll and my nose was at his door then it was at his rear then it stayed like that til around 80 and we had to cut it off.

Racing from a roll dont count for ****. Go out to some empty street where nobody is around and bring a friend to flag. Race him from a stop and see how it goes. You will probly lose but you never know. If he really does run a 14 something it will be hard to make up that more than a full second difference.

Reaction time only lets youwin when our backet racing, if the z is a little slower off th line and they are leaving around the same time, in less than 4 seconds the z will smoke him

Reaction time counts in every and any race.

Show me where reaction time wont win you a..

Heads up race

It is very easy to get .5 to a full second, if not a little more, from reaction time.
