Well, since nobody has started a post I will. I went, and it was real cold and windy. I only saw a few V6 birds there, and met one member 1sweetv6, I think. He drove from Oklahoma.
Anyway, about 25 minutes from the track, my car dies. I pulled over, because I thought I threw a belt. To keep this short, it turned out to be my MSD. Plugged in the bypass, and kept on going, with SES light on. Not knowing if anything else was wrong I said, screw it and decided to race even if I blew the engine.
Got to the track, reset the computer after my first horrible run, dealt with an intermittent miss and the light going on and off. Miss went away. All of my runs were horrible. Even though I didn't see my V6 brotheren and was doing extremely crappy, I decided to run against the LS1s in the eliminations anyway.
My first dial-in time was 16.10 Everybody thought it was a joke, a snicker here, a snicker there. Anyway. Round one, took out an LS1 that "broke out." I developed a miss and the light comes on steady, then blinking, but made it to round two. :D
Round two. I dialed in at 16.22. More snickering. :( This gave me a 3 second head start against another LS1 opponent. Halfway through the run, I turn the radio on, so that I could listen to the broadcast from the announcer, screw the voltage. I'm running and the announcer's going, "I wonder if the WS6 can catch the firebird. He's gaining...he's gaining...OOOHHHHHHHHHH!!!...he couldn't do it." I'm yellin, YEAH! YEAH! GO SIT IN THE STANDS BI*CH!! On to round three! :D
Left the dial-in same, and despite all of this, I
run my fastest time of the day of 16.20 and break out. LS1 runs a 14.55 and advances to the last and final round.
Didn't realize until I got home that I had a great time. Got a nice T-shirt too. I like bracket racing, my first time, gonna do it more often.
