• SLP Day at Ennis

Well, since nobody has started a post I will. I went, and it was real cold and windy. I only saw a few V6 birds there, and met one member 1sweetv6, I think. He drove from Oklahoma.

Anyway, about 25 minutes from the track, my car dies. I pulled over, because I thought I threw a belt. To keep this short, it turned out to be my MSD. Plugged in the bypass, and kept on going, with SES light on. Not knowing if anything else was wrong I said, screw it and decided to race even if I blew the engine.

Got to the track, reset the computer after my first horrible run, dealt with an intermittent miss and the light going on and off. Miss went away. All of my runs were horrible. Even though I didn't see my V6 brotheren and was doing extremely crappy, I decided to run against the LS1s in the eliminations anyway.

My first dial-in time was 16.10 Everybody thought it was a joke, a snicker here, a snicker there. Anyway. Round one, took out an LS1 that "broke out." I developed a miss and the light comes on steady, then blinking, but made it to round two. :D

Round two. I dialed in at 16.22. More snickering. :( This gave me a 3 second head start against another LS1 opponent. Halfway through the run, I turn the radio on, so that I could listen to the broadcast from the announcer, screw the voltage. I'm running and the announcer's going, "I wonder if the WS6 can catch the firebird. He's gaining...he's gaining...OOOHHHHHHHHHH!!!...he couldn't do it." I'm yellin, YEAH! YEAH! GO SIT IN THE STANDS BI*CH!! On to round three! :D

Left the dial-in same, and despite all of this, I
run my fastest time of the day of 16.20 and break out. LS1 runs a 14.55 and advances to the last and final round.

Didn't realize until I got home that I had a great time. Got a nice T-shirt too. I like bracket racing, my first time, gonna do it more often.

Yeah the track was preped like my anus after eatin Mexican food. Best i could pull was a 13.4@97 with a 1.91 60 foot 30 mph head wind and all. I do see that i could of had a 12sec slip if i could pull my regular 1.64 60 foot. But yeah other than the Sick-Sixx I didnt see anything for v6's

Yeah, i saw a blue Camaro with the single turndown, a black camaro with "V6 H.O." and "Venom" stickers on the door... and i think thats about it. It was pretty cool though, track conditions werent very good, and weather was a bit nipply. Oh, and to hell with "dry" counties....

I was there, man was it crowded during time trials. I didn't get to watch much of the races, but congrats on getting as far as you did!

Well I didn't break any records, my 60ft sucked and I was running way rich. I ran against an LS1 SS camaro and edged him by a couple of cars. :D I ran a 13.51@104.54. That was my only time trial.

I ran a 13.9@83 ;) in the first round of eliminations, the guy next to me had a horrible reaction time so I won easily. I decided to head back after that.

It was pretty fun, and I didn't intend on making lots of runs. Hopefully, when I get a new tranny I won't be scared to run slicks! :D

I didn't get to Ennis uintil 11:00 so I was only able to make one pass. First time on the nitrous I ran a 14.176@99 with a horrible 60ft-2.280. It was also the first time I've used drag radials. I still have the stock open diff, so off the line both tires spun and then when I hit second just the right spun. To be honest I thought it was going to be much closer to a 15 sec. pass instead of a low 14. All in all I had a great time and I was able to pic up a few ideas from Aminor65 in the process. Wish I could have talked to more v6ers but oh well.

congrats on making it so far aminor! I think I remember seeing you run once. wish i had turned my radio on goin down the track, heard the announcer was talkin some smack about me being from college station

anyways, i was runnin 12.7s, the track blew, and 14psi in the tires was bogging me on the big end. hopefully at HRP 20psi will hook just fine.
got knocked out in the 2nd round, had to play catch up on a cammed LT1 and missed it by .03 :(

think i'm gonna go to HRP on the 28th, would go on the 26th with you Kris, but i have a test in the evening

I was rearended in dallas on the way down there so I left my car at the hotel. Dallas traffic sucks *** ! Wish I could of meet more of you guys but my group left early. After my friend nearly creamed the wall we took off. It really sucks when antifreeze gets all over your tires. We still arn't sure how that happened but it sure was sweet when he lifted his tires in 2nd gear

Yeah! I remember that. It was something like, "He's from college station. I wonder if he goes to college there?"
