• Help me: my goal is a mid to low-14

I want to get my car down to a mid (maybe low) 14-second et. Does anyone have any input on what I need to make that possible? I would like to achieve this on street tires (if possible) naturally aspirated, with no internal work.
I know a converter and headers will be absolutely necessary. The converter is the next mod on the list. I'm thinking about getting a Yank.

Remove as much weight as you can (backseat, passenger seat, sway bar, etc, etc, etc). Each 100 lbs = approx a tenth.

Also consider some good drag radials that will help your 60 foot. That new stall converter will also help you out tremendously.

Good luck,
Tim

Hey, i got a 98 firebird 3.8 and i installed a yank 2800 in it and my car doesn't grip on street tires, my tires spin like crazy, i love the power i got from it but you will need the drag radials.

Maybe I will get drag radials, or something that will do better on the street. What kind of tire could I get that's in between my stock Crapyears and an all out drag tire?

BFG drag radials or Nitto 555's. Beware though, the BFG's you won't see many street miles and they will wear down quickly. The nittos last longer on the road and will give decent launches on the track if properly heated.

Good luck,

Full exaust with headers, intake, Gears,. Its all in the launch.. I go my a$$ handed to me by a 1993 Z28 on Friday.. we went from a stop and I spun through 3gears by the time I caught he had 6 cars on me.. Then we went from a 30 roll and through second gear we were neck to neck and in 3rd he pulled 2 cars on me.. when we got out of it at about 110 he had me by 3 cars.. Not bad at all considerring all I have is a full exaust and intake and all he had was a flowmaster muffler.. When I get my 3.73's in It will be alot closer.. When he went to the track the best time he ran was a 14.2... Hopefully I can get some runs in at Atco this weekend and maybe see 14.8?? I have to practice launching.. With the gears I should run 14.6.. Nittos will definatly help.. I wan to get mid 14's without any weight reduction or internal work..

Don't know, but I will hopefully find out this Sunday if the weather holds up. I will post times if the track is open and I go (if the track is open I WILL go) I expect at least 15.5, thats being conservative. Considering I have an auto it shouldn't be too hard to get the best run it can make after a few times. You can probably figure out just from my mods approximately what I would run. Bench 1/4 estimation is even worse than bench racing car vs. car, but its the only thing I have to go on right now.

When you race take the STB off, and anything else weighing you down. I got this borderline midget friend I am gonna let run mine next time, he weighs like a buck o five soakin wet. ha ha

You should hit low to mid 15s. Maybe high 14s. I usually launch at around 1800 rpms.
