• Friend's new TA vs. My Maro

Well my friend told me today he just got a 1982 Trans AM. His dad and him bought it from a guy his dad knew from work. I didn't get too many details about it, I know it's an automatic, V8. He told me it was had Crossfire Injection, but then he said it had dual carburetors (?). Not quite sure if he knows WTF he's talking about, but it's good to see more people owning F-bodies.

Of course the question in our minds is naturally: who's car would win in a race? Sometime this weekend he wants to race, but I want to tune mine up a bit before going at it. Think I got a shot? From what I understand the 82 model TA's didn't make a whole lot of power unless they were heavily modified. I'll race him regardless, it'll be good fun either way :D

I think Crossfire Injection had twin throttle bodies on one manifold. Maybe that's what he meant by "duel carbs".

You'll beat it. my friend has one just like it that's red. he couldn't beat me for sh*t. i loved it. everytime he tried to pass me i would punch it when he got even with me. i would stay with for a second then pull away. he hated that he can't beat me. it could have been a nice car but he just didn't keep it in all that good of looking condition. motor wise it was perfect. anyway. i have auto and you should beat him easily. Don't even sweat it. if he wins it's 'cause you missed a gear or something dumb. have fun beating him.

Most likey yes... but a car that old, could have variosu different motors swapped into it.

I woudl be worried, until you finally saw him run it.
