  • Had my first race tonight, but a little disappointed

Ok, I'm driving to work tonight, when I hear a funny sound. Here, a newer Cavilier pulls up next to me with a fart pipe and blue headlights. He starts reving his engine, so I do it back a little cause his sounded sooo bad. I mean terrible, and I have a sweet tone comming from my borla running wide open. So here we head into the tunnels, and he's reving it loud, and i'm doing back because i always do it in the tunnels anyway because i like the sound. Anyhow, we cross the bridge and get on the highway. It's a straight shot, and no one was around. He pulls up on side of me and takes off, so I floor it and pass him up. I was staying about 85, when I see catching up. So I floor it again, but he was still only like 1-1/2 car lenghts behind me, so I just slowed down, and he went flying by. I really thought I would have done much better, especially with the mods I have. I mean it was a cavilier. I have a 97 rs vert auto, with a borla catback wide open, catco high flow cat, cai, 160 stat, 1 piece aluminum driveshaft, stb, and that's about it for the performance mods. My gas gauge was even on E, so i had no weight from gas. I do have 2 kicker L7's in my trunk and a big *** audiobahn amp. there's at least 100lbs there. I only way like 170. I'm really disappointed. I barely beat a cavilier. Driving had nothing to do with it. All I had to do was floor it. Any advice for next time?

Maybe some people will disgree but My 98 convertable is slow. My first quarter mile pass when I was stock was a 16.8. With some practice my best stock time was a 16.6. Im assumming cavaliers are 17 second cars. So if your car is like mine you wouldnt have him beet by that much really. Even with all my mods my best is still a 15.7. Right around were most stock non- convertable camaros start out. You have some mods and so dose he obviously so that would put you guys somewhat close. Convertables in my opinion suck for times compared to hardtops, but atleaste after you won you can put your top down and drive away with victory in style. HE HE

Or a wing or a prayer. And ricers don't have a prayer, but they do have wings.

Ive heard that if your tank is almost on "E" then it goes into a mode that saves fuel and starts to do somthing to the engine to keep it from wasting a bunch of gas
