• OMFG I hit the 13s! (READ AGAIN...EDIT)

WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

I can't begin to tell you the joy I have on my face right now. My friend let me borrow his 75 dry shot and then we went to the track. First run was a 14.1@96...I spun like crazy. Don't spray out of the whole, espicially if it's your first time using it. Then I went again for two more runs and pulled a 14.02@98 and 14.12@96. So close to 13s. Next I decided to chop off some time to hit the 13s so I sat there thinking and me and my buddy removed the drivebelt. The car started and I proceeded down the track to an NEW BEST OF 13.78@99.85mph with a 2.0 60'! Oh man am I happy. The voltage gauge was deep in the red at the end of my run tho...I wonder why!

I'm now a nitrous junkie, I'm about to go order a kit a.s.a.p. Monday morning.

Congrats, I wasn't sure anyone else knew about that trick. It's not really practical on the street for too long, but really kicks up the horsepower on the track. Forget the underdrive pulley nonsense; now your alternator, A/C, etc don't draw ANY power from your engine. I've seen this done to a grand national, and he dominated the 1/8 mile circuit. It's like getting back the equivalent of all the power your transmission and drivetrain rob from you, which is quite a bit. I haven't seen any dyno numbers yet, but it's a quick trick for when you need the edge (or those extra .10's :D )

yea but I removed the drivebelt as well so I was running no power steering, a.c., water pump, alternator. Not a smart thing to do but you wouldn't believe how much power these things take away.

Congrats on your time. I can see running without an alternator(race cars do it all the time because they use deep cycle batteries). But no water pump? That is an easy way to do serious damage to your car.

It's not that bad for a single run. Keep yourself from too much harm with them usual oil and transmission intercoolers, and you could do that more often. I've only made one run without my belt, and that was a street grudge match. That guy had a car length on me before, and I showed him my tail lights when I ran without the belt. I'd do it more often if I wasn't so damn lazy. Congrats 99, and spread the word, maybe we'll see more of this mod.

congrats on the time...

That stuff does rob alot of hp, but I would seriously consider something to do about the waterpump. I pulled about an 1/8th mile run in my 3.4L without a belt and seriously my temp almost rose as fast as my tach at wot, it was not as bad at idle. I am not trusting it at the track yet but it is a nice mod.

Can 3.8L s run short belts? just crank to alternator?

Congrats man!!!
We have converted another one :D

You could run into problems w/ no belt:
no water pump turning, increased heat
no alt turning, low voltage, electrical fuel pump, low charge to fuel pump, doesn't supply enough fuel at high rpm's, you go lean, you blow motor, you be all sad :( I be sad also :(

I'm too busy at work to go into detials
I'll get back to ya
