Usually, the g-tech is a little 'optimistic'.

exactly! ET times are usually accurate (somewhat) but the trap speeds are WAY TOO HIGH. Like if it says you could run say 16.0@90, I'd say you could run 15.8-16.2 but definately NOT AT 90

anybody here ever take their gtch to the track to get a good comparison? I figure once you find out the error percentage, than you can really have fun w/it on the street ;)

I used one, said i had a 16.1 at 87, and my best track ET (spiining thru first and second) was a 15.874, and my best MPH was 86.7, so, yes in reality, it is pretty close, you just need to make sure you have it calibrated according to instructions.

Also, for the HP feature. We used it on my friends 88 turbo Supra, and it was 8 HP SHORT of what it actually dynoed at.

            ET's were WAY off
            MPH was WAY OFF

            It is crap to me!!!

my friend went out and used G-tech on his LT1 and it came up to 320RWHP. Next morning, NO CHANGES to the car and it said 276RWHP.

Oh yea for me it pulled 173RWHP and 174RWHP back in the day with only lid/muffler.

If the weather gets better I will be taking the Gtech (The new competition one) to the track on Friday. This will show if it's accurate or not since it will be tested on IDENTICAL runs with the actual track timers. I'm also going to test the HPPIII back to back with total stock. This will be in as close conditions as you can get. Running all this stuff on different days in different weather won't tell you anything about if it works or not. I'm guessing the Gtech will be pretty close (tenth or two) and yes, the MPH will be high (Gtech tells you this because of the difference in measuring Mph at the track). But just like FOX News, I'll be fair and balanced and report exactly what the results are even if I'm not happy with them.

Four days ago - 90 degrees - Today - 6-9 inches of snow..Nebraska is great!

Id say that it just depends on how accuratly u tune it. They can run dead on but tuning is no walk in the park to get it 100% right. Id say, unless u know everything exaclty to waht it needs go to the track.
Also I usually run faster on street than track. ( traction / conditions ) are better on the street in many cases.

there isn't much to tuning it is there. i mean there isn't much you can do. you have to put in the weight for the hp test but for the 1/4 mile there isn't much you can do.

If you have the old one ($139), you have to make sure it is DEAD LEVEL or it throws it off. The new competition one has a setup procedure that makes it unnecessary to have it that level when doing 1/4 testing.
