Hee hee, I do NOT fear the Quad Four but I respect it!!

One of the local beretta/ corsica people has one w/ a built motor (head, cam and so on).
Once he can drive it we are expecting a possible high 13 or most likely low 14 second quad four.

    Welcome here!

Not only is it lighter, but the 442 with the W41 also has a LSD in it.

Yeah...I had a 90 grandam se. IT had the quad4ho and 5 speed. It was very quick....i loved that thing. Matter of fact....i beat my previous RS (90 model with LO3 v8) Of course the LO3 was only rated at 170 hp at the crank. But it was a fun kill nontheless.

You are forgetting the z24's It's a bad little motor.. my boys 1996 Z24 runs 16.00 in the 1/4 at 88mph with a muffler and intake.. Not bad but the 3.8's run mid to low 15's stock so I dont think there are alot of people worried.. But Like James said I respect that motor too.. Its a great motor to work on and there are tons of parts for it.. I also like the new Ecotech motors..

Technically the Quad4 was never put in a Z24...the Z24 has a rebadged and detuned Quad4. The Z24 has 150 hp and there a lot of differences. Mostly in the head, cams, and it has a balance shaft that the Quad4 never had. The Quad4 got a real bad rap and GM renamed it the Twincam, which was then put in the Z24. A lot of Z24 owners swap in Quad4 heads, W41 cams, etc.

If my 97' Z24 wasn't a commuter car... but it is, so I haven't touched it at all. Ran 15.6 bone stock with a little tire spin off the line. I love that car.

I have Grand Am 95 with Quad4... and that motor is a ***** to work on. To change thermostat you have to remove exhaust manifold (techincally it's possible without removing it, but it's a very much ***** to do so and unless you have tiny hands, you're screwed)... to change water pump you have to remove timing chain, cuz it's driven by timing chain... only easy thing about that motor is spark plugs. That's about it. It's all cramped and all tight and just pain in the *** . But it does have quite a bit of power.
