• Going Back to the Track This Friday

After my "little" torque converter extravaganza nightmare, I will have the stock converter re-installed by Thursday and head back to the track on Friday night to make comparisons. Someone's going to be saying "I told you so." Whether that someone is me or Keith that remains to be seen. But either way, I'll update when I get back <<praying>>

Are you going to Island dragway?? I'll be there in my black '89 Turbo Grand Prix. It's 'Fast and Furious night' I think so there will be a lot of ricers there. It should be a nice night for the track, and maybe I'll see ya there

            *sigh*

Shirl... You really can't take a converter to the track just one and expect to run great.

I still think you need to give it another chance. I and many other board members have repeatedly posted that it took us SEVERAL times at the track to actually figure out how to launch the car and run new #'s.

I still say keep the verter in there and let James make a pass in it.

            Either way, good luck. ;)

Good luck! If possible could you please make a run with out the nitrous. I want to see some runs with just the powerdyne so I have something to compare mine too! It seems like very few people who have the powerdyne actually have went to the track to see what they run.

                Good luck...

AND DON"T JAMES DRIVE YOUR CAR!

I do nto say this often but I agree with keith on the converter and learing to sue it right. With just differnt gears and lsd, took me a good 10 trips to the track to figure how to get it right, and dropped my times nearly .4 form the first time I took it out without any other mods.

But please proove us wrong and pull some monster numbers, I think I have had enough of this Firebird on top crap ;)

I managed to fix it in the N/A 3.4L arena, need the rest of the Camaros to step it up in the other areas.

Superv6bird, the car use to run 13.9's/14.0's on the blower only when it was first installed. I'll run it with just the blower again to see if there has been any improvement.. I just hope it's not really crowded at Island. I don't like when it's loaded with imports and trucks.. you end up sitting in the staging lanes all night and only get one or two runs in

honestly i dont see how it would be fair for you to say i told you so if your times are better with stock converter because in all honesty you didnt give the aftermarket one a chance. You have to launch different ways to find the one thats perfect for the car/converter. You cant just expect to slap all the mods on and just floor it, you have to try different techniques with launching. We all wish you would have gotten a restall for that blower/nitrous so that you could have potentially ran the 1st 11sec 3.8. I mean come on we dont run james to be the first...... He has a firebird, Us camaro peeps gotta take him out j/k Im nowhere near ready to try for 11s because i dont even have the direct port kit yet :( I bet your car would have been an even bigger beast with the right converter/launching

 I don't want this to become a "you shoulda kept it cuz you don't know how to drive post". As I said before, I'd be willing to sell it for the price I paid $923. Wanna buy it? (didn't think so). But anyway, I already know that the stock converter with my combination, and correct launch, puts the car at 12.6 (and that was with multiple misfires. So, now that it has new plugs, tuning and better traction (control arms) it should be much better. For me to go to the track 10 or 20 times to "learn" something is not practical for me. The car is mainly for show, not beating the p*ss out of.

well, good luck at the track. Kick some a** actually i would buy it but i already have a converter that was like 500+ less and is guaranteed to be more efficient than the expensive converters. Yank is a good converter but man the price is like 3 car payments :D I wasnt trying to step on your toes i just wanted to see a camaro be the first to 11s :(

They weren't saying you don't know how to drive....they were saying that EVERYONE needs practice with a new converter setup, and its unlikely that anyone could run a car to its full potential with a new setup in just one trip to the track. Either way, good luck, I hope you beat that 12.6, everyone's routing for you!
