• The moment you've been waiting for..

ok, the track sucked last night, only got a couple of runs in and then it rained. Met up with James, still had fun anyway. Car ran about the same cept' on the second run had a misfire this time..pig rich! Mph is back on track and the car launches like a MOFO. It has brass balls and goes sideways. I thought for sure I'd have better traction with the control arms, but it looks like I need slicks or ET Streets. I can't get a decent launch. On the second run, the front end went up in the air and then to the right til' I got back on track. At the end of that run, the SES light came on and was blinking: misfire code. It's running way too rich. I thought the fuel jet change would do the trick, because I didn't get a misfire the last time I was out. But the fuel pressure gauge is pinned and it only reads up to 80psi, so I'm figuring it's running around 100psi with both the nitrous and the blower. Also, the air/fuel ratio gauge is pinned in the green (rich). Aside from the tuning hell, the stock converter still responds better and the MPH is higher than the aftermarket converter. The car needs to be dyno-tuned. I will be looking into that. I would've posted this sooner, but I was p*ssed that it rained, and I've been trying to clean my car!!!

usually when pressure drops, humidity goes up, and u go slower, and when pressure goes up, humidity decreases, and u go faster. If the stock converter did that to your time, I'd like 2 see a properly set up converter on your car, as well as being able 2 dead hook w/ it.

Barametric pressure will affect the car...

Its affected me a couple tenths along with humity, course mine is usually a little more extreme in Florida and my track is about 20 min. form a swamp.

            Congrats shirl.

Now, when you say the car launched like a mofo and went all sideways, what did it do with the converter? If you get sideways with a stock converter, with a high stall you should have NO traction.

I'm thinking, either your previous converter was defective, tranny fluid was low, or you were hitting the rev limiter between shifts.

btw, 30.77 baro is AWESOME.. I've never ever been able to race in such good weather. That is VERY good air. The higher the baro the better. A little higher and your talking HRP kind of baro.

              Congrats shirl. Thanks, Keith

The car didn't react that way with the aftermarket converter at all. I couldn't even spin the tires with it.

I'm thinking, either your previous converter was defective, tranny fluid was low, or you were hitting the rev limiter between shifts. Tranny fluid was not low, as for hitting the rev limiter on shifts, I'm not sure about that.. how would I know if it were, besides seeing it happen.. wouldn't the car jerk or something?

Next step is for me to look into getting it dyno tuned.. it's still running extremely rich. Hopefully that will be taken care of soon.

Shirl, if your car couldn't even break the tires loose with that other converter something was DEFINATELY wrong. Not in the sense that the converter just wasn't made for your setup, but that it was either not built right or not installed right.

Any converter that stalls higher than stock should make it much easier to roast the tires.

When you hit the rev limiter, the car hesitates to shift, sometimes gets jerky, makes funny noises.. it's just not a clean shift. It is also very dangerous to power adder vehicles, just ask Tiago. ;)

Sometimes what happens with a converter install is people forget to fill the converter with fluid before they install. They also don't check it after a few miles, and then say 50 miles. Our trannies REALLY don't like to be low on fluid.
