  • I need some opinions from those who know...

Alright Ive only got 58 timeslips and dont know what to make of my situation. So here I go. Before my supercharger my runs almost always went like this..... 60ft-2.3...1/8-10.3@66mph...1/4-16.1@86mph. So I figuered with the powerdyne I should be seeing atleast 15.0's or better. But this is the best Ive been able to muster so far...60ft-2.3....1/8-10.1@70 mph...1/4-15.6@87mph...Now I realized that somthing was wrong so I replaced my cat with a straight pipe changed my fuel screen and then figuered my fmu wasnt hooked up right. I went back to the track expecting 14's, cas the car just pulls so good when Im driving now... But could only get a 15.8 out of 6 runs. Is it possible that everything is hooked up fine and thats why Im moving so quick when Im driving around BUT since my car is a one legger , it cant handle the power from the powerdyne going to that one wheel and Im spinning a 1/4 way up the track? Or , no matter how bad my traction is I should still not be running that slow and you think theres a problem somewere else besides my traction. Oh BTW I went from running 16.4's last night to the 15.8 just by letting 20 pounds of air out of my rear tires. PLEASE any help is appreciated and I will do my best to get you specific awnswers to any questions you have.

i'm thinking you need to hit the dyno and see what is going on with your car..

chill with the drag racing and get the thing tuned.

i know how fustrating this can be, it will come to you, i bet it's something small..

    good luck

It looks like you dropped one second off of your ET. That's good if that's the case. Are you way above sea level where your racing? The stock ET seems a bit slow to begin with. I looked at your mods.. I was going to tell you to do a backpressure test before the catalytic converter also, but I think you have a straight pipe.. is that correct?? What is your fuel pressure at full boost??

his et is slow because hes a convertable his car weighs alot

ummmm traction is what improves your et if you cant put the power to the ground its pointless to have it

get an lsd and learn to launch it right

the think im suprised about is your ****y mph

it only went up 1 mph thats ****y it should of gone up a good 5-6 with no slipage

ohh yea borrow some 16's tires or something those 18's are slowing you down and i know they arnt doing **** for times

TheBeast had 17" tires ran like a 15.7 borrowed jeffs and it took off a good .4 tenths

your car is heavy too lighten it up when you go to the track pull your front sway bar it will help the car launch

you should be able to pull 2.1 60' period i have pulled 2.0 granted i weigh less but still you got a blower so you should be able to hit a 2.1 60' too

even if your tires slip alittle it will end up hurting you a couple tenths easy

hrmmmm if you could auto tap your car and make sure your not getting KR or anything your topend is ****ty it shouldnt be with the charger

something is going on topend cause you go you use to run 66mph in the 1/8 now you run 70 mph thats a 4 mph increase but in the 1/4 you only gained 1 mph thats ****y something is going on

Shirl ,the most Ive seen my fuel pressure go to was mid 60. somewere between 63 and 65. Its usually around 60-61. Before I changed my fmu hookup I never saw above 54. Thanks for the help guys ... I know my car is a convrtable with a bunch of extra heavy crap, but I made this car go from running 16.6 to 16 flats with mods before I put on the charger. Now the best Ive seen is 15.6. I only dropped 4 tenths??? Even if my car is 300 pounds heavier than the other supercharged ones that are running 14.2's or better, I should still ATLEASTE be in the 14's shouldnt I? Im thinking that maybe its a combination that Im still not getting enough fuel under boost and that Im a one legger. Shirl you probaly know if Im not getting enough fuel or not. Also the powerdyne is suppossed to roughly give you the power of a LT1. What kind of times would a LT1 run with an open differential? Yea Jason my ET is shi**ty. I expected to atleaste be in the 90's. Oh and Shirl I did get a straight pipe after I read what happened to you, still couldnt do better then 15.6. Here's the part I dont understand... I pulled that 15.6 with my fmu not even working and my fuel pressure only reading 50. I then fixed it thanks to superbird and went and ran a best of 15.8 with over 60 pounds of fuel pressure.?? The only thing I could think of was that I was getting the full power from my boost and that my right tire was spinning 1/4 of the way up the track, thus giving me crappy times.

Yup I was thinking fuel pressure is still low too. Mine is at 78 at wot.

Tall tires, extra weight, are not helping but none of that matters right now. Your mph is at 88, thats at least 7 mph too low. The only thing I know of that will kill mph by that much is running lean.

Your stock pump is fine becuase 42 at idle is where it should be. I would still say fmu is not working right.

Did you buy this kit used or new? Are you sure you have the correct fmu? You said your fuel pressure was lower without the fmu hooked up right...that makes me think it is adding some fuel but is possibly the wrong one? Just a guess.

It could also be something else like injectors?
I dont know much about injectors but wouldnt a cloged injector increase fuel pressure becuase there would be less fuel flowing out of the injector thus increasing fuel pressure in the fuel lines? That could be totally wrong though.

I would either find a way to auto-tap it and check your 02s, dyno it, or see if they mechanic you had install it has some way of checking if you are running lean or not.

Give me your email address and I will send you the phone number for james at vector performance. He is the one that designed the kit and he may be able to help you trouble shoot this better.

could it be because you are in hawaii? come to florida and run your car. you'll prolly see 14's.

because 16.6 is reallly slow for stock.

good luck with the whole ordeal

I was going through the installation guide yesterday and saw that it specifically says the fuel should be betweeen 65-75psi at boost. If it is not, there may be something wrong with the FMU and you should look into an auxilliary fuel pump.

                          why do you say that?

Look into tuning issues what is your altidude as well?

As for weight, its a slight fctor but not too bad lets say you weigh 3900 lbs which is flast out ridiculous even for a convertable with a full sound system. 400-500 lbs. .4-.5 seconds, still would not be helping things out.

Yes I defiently want to get a fuel pump SOON. Ive done a search and I want to get the Walbro 255 lph. But I dont know if I should get the regular 255 or the high pressure 255. Also some people are saying we use the one from the 3rd gen camaro while others are saying we use the 4th gen camaro style walbro. Any help on this? I want to hurry up and get this imfo so I can put it in and hopefully solve my problem.
