• header leak...RESULTS!!!!!

Ever since I got my headers and catback put on I can notice alot of gain but I dont think I am noticing as much as I should be. I plan on going to the track tomarow and running it to see if my et's are lower with the recent mods done to my car i.e. headers and catback.

I bet they will be the same, if not worse. you need to get that taken care of.

An exhaust leak will make a difference.

Without the tuning length of the headers you are losing horsepower. Its all about flow, if Dragsters would be faster running no headers at all, they'd do it. But they don't they run full length long tube headers.

Leaking it out before the headers have a chance to turn it into horsepower and torque, yeah you are losing it.

i bet he has a leak at the header/y pipe flange. dont get over upset at bligs response, it wont hurt your ET unless you are running some serious mods we dont have time to talk about that require things we dont want to know about.

            He has multiple leaks.

@ the y-pipe and at the motor.

We can't even find them all.

Trust me I have seen his set up and I bet he is losing power.

Nap, did you use the paper gaskets that came w/ the headers or did you use some other type of aftermarket gasket?

Gaskets are probably part of the problem.

Oh yeah, he was leaking at the EGR valve until we fixed that.

When I had my leak fixed there was a difference in performance.

Take it from me .....my headers have leaked numerous times and I have fixed them numerous times and when my headers leaked I lost alot of power. I definetly noticed the power loss when they leaked, especially off the line ( my car was a dog off the line when they leaked). I will soon fix my headers with a 3 bolt flange.

Header leaks, air gets in air gets past o2 sensor, o2 sensor thinks you are running lean, tells PCM to drown the motor with fuel.

The headers only leat at the 2 bolt FLANGES nowhere else. I used some composite metal gaskets on the y/header part and metal gaskets at the engine/header

BTW I was getting a SES light a while back but then it went off. I went to AutoZone and they used the OBDII code scanner and it was the O2 sensor bank sensor 2 or somthing like that.

ok then i take it all back. i thought you might of had just the header/y pipe flange leak. i bet you are going a hell of a lot slower than what you would with the leaks fixed. we will never know untill you do a before and after run though.

i had header/ y pipe flange leaks all the pinche time, i ended up getting aluminum gaskets. i guess i never saw any loss in performance cause i had no performance.

The leaks are coming from both headers where the header meets the y-pipe.

man, i just noticed you have the rksport headers. did you think you where not going to leak? everybody knows how rks headers suck when it comes to thier flanges. its time to do some welding ;)

unless you like the leaks
