Numbers mean nothing?

So if I go up against an SS with my V6, so long as I am the better driver I'll win?

In case you haven't been reading your timeslips they are chalk-full of...NUMBERS. Drag racing all about the numbers.

But in alot of cases, it comes down to the driver. I beat a DRIVER in a 01 Stang GT. You wanna know why?

a 4L60E modded to the limits will go faster than a T5 modded to the limits behind a 3.8..

You don't see no HUGE stall guys that rev to the moon yet.. if you did (like I had previousely planned) you could hit low 13's NA.

actually you will I beat a lt1 SS in timetrials on SLP DAY(before elimination rounds)

I have also beating one lt1 and 2 other ls1s, they are much much faster but they were dumb and screwed the launch, then instead of letting up and going they jsut left it floored. I won because I was the better driver

as for saying the fastest v6s are autos?

look at the top ten v6 f-bodies from each category, n/a 3.4, 3.8, and power adder 3.4, 3.8.

In the end there were mroe 5-speed cars then autos, and it is a more accurate reading. Another thing to help the point is probable 80% of v6 f-bodies are autos, so there are even less manuals out there but they come out on top, not just by a select few. Fastest n/a and power adder 3.4Ls are 5-speeds.

the slower you are, the less your transmission plays a roll in your ET.

Hmmm, I guess you really are serious???

                  I wasn't comparing an SS to a v6!

The original post was someone who asked about his 16.2, if he would be quicker w/ auto or manual.

My response was..... it is up to the driver!

This is in regards to the EXACT same car down to EVERY single little thing.
The ONLY change is transmission, NOTHING else!

Again, I stand by saying it is up to the driver when EVERY other factor remains the EXACT same!

Yah! And I say that down to every other detail, including the same driver the manual is going to be faster.

I also completely agree that our off-topic rants are pathetic and don't help the original poster in any way shape or form.

What a sad bunch of goobs. Oh well.

I've beaten an Z28 out of the hole. I was almost all the way through second get by the time he passed me. I was hauling while he was spinning, so yes it's directly related to driver skill. I've also seen LS1s run mid 14's due to horrible drivers. A good driver in a V6 could beat a bad driver in a LS1.

Yes but I'm neither talking about the absolutely poorest driver our there, nor the very best professional test driver. The average joe-racer who is familliar with his car.

Technically, you could get a Murcielago to run a 24 second quartermile if you really tried to. But that is neither here nor there. I'm talking about averages of runs. When you add up the averages of many many runs by many driver of both completely stock V6 Camaro's standard vs. auto. On the avverage the Manual is faster.

That's all I'm trying to say.
