All I know is that I have the crap gears in my 99 bird...If I got the .42'2 in the back end of it, would both wheels spin and not just the one anymore? And how much would it cost to do this...I know just the gears are like 220 dollars, but is that all I need?

You have to get a posi or lsd diff to get both tires to spin.

            Keep practicing and launch harder...

Funny my car got faster with the gears with no changes, just running it more, I swore I was dead hooking but semeed I could always launch it harder and harder off the line.

            Good luck.

Seriously when I got 3.42s, lsd, and lt1 driveshaft, I ran 15.8-15.9s, couple 16 flats, my best with stock 3.23, open diff, and 2 piece drivesahft was 15.9.

I eventually got that down to 15.5-6s consistantly, with a best of a 15.4.

okay, i might be wrong here, but doesn't the higher gear ratio increase torque an lower HP? You are increasing your 60ft cause thats all torque but then your loosing on the top end. Maybe getting a charger, turbo or nitrous will help?
