Maybe for like 5 outta every hundred of us who just happen to have gotten a factory freak with 175 rwhp and also happen to live close to a quick track. Say you start off with an open 3.08 and you run a VERY good stock time of 15.8. You go get the whsper lid and now you pull a 15.7. You get the FTRA and now your best is a 15.6. You upgrade to 3.42 and drop 3 tenths and now you got a 15.3.The numbers Im telling you are based on time drops I experienced from hese mods. The only differance is that my car is a convertable and m track is very slow , so instead of starting a 15.8 I stated at 16.6 and dropped down to 16.1 with those mods. So your car is currently at 15.3, your only 3-4 tenths away from 14's. Where do you get those tenths from? More money and modding of course. It is not as easy as some people make it seem. Even if you have the money. Look at my mod list.

Dude. If you run with the 18s that you have listed in your sig, of course your gonna run high times. INTERTIA. If you take those off and run 15s or 16s, you will see that low 15 possibly, possibly that high 14. Going from 16s to 18s cuts your rear wheel horsepower by 1/9...thats like an exhaust and an intakes worth of Horsepower.

      Camarorulz,

Did others run those times the same day at the track against you where your 60's were very similar? Did you cars shift at the exact same time?

Did you autotap to check your timing and air/fuel ratio? Do you know that you aren't getting KR with the big stall?

Even at 16K miles you could still have a dirty air filter or crappy flowing intake tract.. or a clogged cat, or bad exhaust system.

Your motor is weak not because of the motor, but because of something you're missing.. perhaps a clogged injector, perhaps low timing.. or perhaps your car is heavy.

Magnus, please explain why I would be getting KR because of my converter, I don't know s***. Thanks

No, there were no other V6s at the track that day, and I must admit I had the slowest car there, lol.

a lot of people are starting to theorize that they are getting knock retard from their large stalls. no one has really proven it yet. another reason why i went with a 3000 stall.

I have a 3000 stall as well. It just doesn't seem drastic enough to cause a lot of problems. Hell, a lot of the stock converters stall to 2500. My converter shouldn't hurt the engine, should it?

uh, converters have nothing to do with the engine... the only thing you're likely to 'hurt' are rear-end and other drivetrain parts.

3000 is mild by today's standards.

Some cars notice knock retard with aftermarket converters.. You'd have to autotap to find out.

I blieve Shirl had this problem which is why her car is such a dog with a big stall.. My car had this problem as well as a few others on the board.

i did get knock retard when i was on 87 octance at the track. when i went back to the track i used me some 93 and my knock retard went down to 1-2 degrees at most and that was only right near redline. 3500 Vigilante stall here

i did verify those with autotap. weight has alot to do with times also. skinnies are one of the best mods after a converter. its amazing how much they help a converter car.

                        track make a big difference..

i ran 14.82 @ 90.1 with a ghetto homemade intake, fan switch, Free ram air, and dynomax muffler. so it can be done. this was with 3.42's and no LSD

others have run similar or better than this with the same mods

I agree with Magnus that you should look at what kind of times the other cars at the track are running. I've done this on my last two trips, and without out a doubt, they're running slow also.

Also think about this: If 14s weren't so hard to run, then it wouldn't be an issue for us would it? I mean, the issue would be trying to get in to the 13s or better right? You don't see anybody complaining about not being able to get in to the 15s, do you?

There are no factory freaks, just perfect track conditions, a car in good running order, and sometimes a decent driver.

Oh, don't feel bad about the times you guys are running. A couple of months ago, I ran a 14.7 with a 50 shot of NOS, which is sad if you base your results on the successes of the "few" people here. Last week, the best I ran was 15.15 all night. Go figure.

                          Okay I'm done.

AMinor, what was your '60 with that 14.7?
Does anyone have experience and track results going from non-mandrel bent to mandrel bent exhaust? Right now I have 2.5" non-mandrel bent going to my Flowmaster 80. I'm looking to go to 3" mandrel with a catco. I'm just looking for a general estimate on what kind of gains I would see.

ive heard some things against them, but noone really ever explained what was the problem with them. If you could tell me why theyre hurting my performance (keep in mind my setup) Id love to know so that I can change to something better.

they are platinum and burn colder than coppers.

the other 3 electrodes shroud the spark from the air/fuel mixture.
