  • Foiled again, thinking about abandoning the bird....

Well today I went to the track. Conditions were a little warm but still good enough for some nice runs. Despite the fact that traction was a myth... my first run was a 15.8 . That blew my mind, I have yet to run with the verter and I am running what I was on stock gears. Granted I spun, but spinning can only account for so much. I pulled a 2.347 60 / 15.8 / @ 88 mph

Then I make two more runs after I had cooled off, both of them nearly identical 15.7's I figured id make one more since I was still good for the bracket. I go again, I spin still ( I spun every time just fyi) and make a 15.666 So needless to say I am very very dissapointed.

Tire pressure was 24 psi, gas was 91 octane, less than 1/4 tank. Tread on tires is still okay, but going fast. I just dont get why my car hasnt responded to the mods.

Yeah, if you are spinning you won't ever see the full benefit of the new gears/lsd and the converter.

Get some LCA's and some drag radials and you have a high 14 second car- easy.

Agree. Your 60 fts are what's killing you. LCA's and better tires will help.

You guys always have a way of restoing my faith. I gotta learn to launch it too but I need some traction first. Ne ways, thx again.

I've been a little frustrated too, but you should just practice more with your setup. You can pull a better time out of it. Your '60 was absolutely killing you. I don't have any suspension mods at all (no LCAs, nothing) and I have stock Goodyear Eagle 235/55/16s and I pulled the '60 you see in the sig. You just have to find the right rpm to launch at. You'll get it. I should've done better too. My tires suck so 2500 was the max rpm I could launch at. I got lucky and knew about what rpm I could launch at the first run on the converter. You weren't so lucky, but I bet if you practiced it a little more you'd get a lot better results with the '60 time.

Can't expect killer times if you go to the track and only run 4 times.

You gained 2 mph, so all you need now is some traction. I would tell you not to launch so hard, but autos are a different breed.

The thing about launching was I could go without stalling the verter at all and still spin too much. I think my tires are just complete crap.

                --------------------

Because the mods suck. Get rid of the Yank and go back to stock for a couple of runs. Mike sells garbage to the V6 crowd. He takes the stock converters, paints em', messes with the stall and rips people off. I had a BAD experience with him and his converter. A 2.3 60ft is absurd, traction or not. The mods you have should be putting you at very low 15's/high 14's. With only a filter and Borla muffler, my car ran 15.3. How are you launching the car? What RPM? Is your cutout open or closed when you race? How warm was it when you raced?

shirl have you been back since to the track, why dont you rag on all the other companys that gave you ****ty conveters (atleast you say they are ****y yet you never keep them long enough to really find out) you didnt even give the yank a week

honestly whenever you say anthing about our cars it dosnt mean jack ****

do you even work on your car

nope dosnt that nice sponsore of yours do the work for you or you pay to have it done

you are ripping on a product you never gave it a chance and didnt listen to anyone on this board or others that tried to help you

you must know all though right since you dont have to listen to us or even others that know more then you that have actully tooken our engins apart

hrmmmmm why dont you ***** that you have a ****ty supercharger that cant barly hold 6 psi you never rag your ****ty supercharger i know batmans is more then 10 times better and can make more boost

                  hrmmm think about this

Maybe with your yank you were getting knock retard and it was pulling timing (your engin might of not actully been but your converter more so making the noise.

This is one of the problems slacker69 had on here
he took his 3000 stall off had it restalled to 3800 then when put back in he was getting knock and his car ran worse then before

did you ever auto tap your car with the yank if no then dont talk **** about it

and if you look at his time he has a ****y 60 foot 2.3

hrmm he should be able to pull a 1.9 atleast with traction thats 4 thenths that = 8 tenths in the 1/4 thats a high 1/4 not that bad considering with what he started and in not that good of weather either and our cars are effected alot by weather

also what is wrong with 12sec's converter he has a yank is it garbage? no its not he cuts 1.9s with 3.23's and dynoed the same as me with a stock conveter (with conveters you tend to lose some hp with an aftermarket but you will et better) so his conveter is eff too what more could he ask for in a converter

any converter under a certain stall rating, i wanna say 3200, is essentially just a factory one with a restall. all companies do this.

I'm just warning people of the possible mishaps with the converter companies. For example: Coan Racing in Indiana sent me the WRONG converter. It had the wrong bolt pattern and incorrect stator when we tried to put it in. On top of that, they denied it was the wrong part (it was actually an early 80's 3.8 converter). Then, even worse, they tried to charge me a re-stocking fee on the return. As for Yank, yes, their's fit, although I wasn't satisfied with it. Mike at Yank was not helpful in that situation at all and did not call me back, after I had repeatedly emailed and called him. I was so fed up with the poor customer relations and performance of that converter that I sent it back. Once I finally did reach him on the phone, he said he would credit my account immediately (even though he had the part for almost 2 weeks in his possession). Two more weeks went by and he didn't keep his word. Finally I faxed him a letter stating what he had said to me and that the matter needed to be taken care of immediately otherwise further action would be taken. (I was not about to loose $923.) He finally credited the account after being threatened.
Slowmaro, Jason Morgan, why don't you have some information in your profile? Where are you from? What do you do? How old are you? Why are you bringing my supercharger/Batman into this? I was one of the first 4 people in the country to have the blower kit when it was fabricated by James Bawkey. I think it's nice that some of us on here are experimenting with new ideas and fabricating new performance parts other than putting other people's car's down. What do you have done to your car? And yes, I do work on my car for basic mechanical things and I am always learning new things. Just because I'm fortunate enough to have a sponsor does not mean that I run to them (25 minutes away) everytime I need an oil change.. LOL. Ever work on your car for 14 hours/2 days straight getting it ready for a show so that you could take 1st place and KEEP a SPONSORSHIP? Ever install a trans cooler? A crankcase breather system? An FMU? My sponsorship wasn't "given" to me. I worked VERY hard for it. If you saw my car in person you might understand why..32 trophies later. Right now, showing is more important to me than "going", but I'll have some bugs worked out and get back to the track soon. How about you? What is your car running in the 1/4? How has autotap helped you? (I want to know YOUR experience with it.) Give me some specs on the program and exactly how to use it.

hrmm i know i have done more work on our cars then you will ever do

everyone knows yanks customer service is not ideal you dont go to them for customer service you go to them for a proven product (atleast in the ls1 world and your about the only one to ***** about them in the v6 world out of thr sveral people with them)

the fastest v6 on this board is running a yank
you saying he can run faster on his stock converter?

people from other boards came here to tell you to try the converter again but nope you know all and didnt listen maybe thats why your only running 12.7's with the highest mph on the board

i honestly have nothing against you but you came here bashing one product that out of your conveter experiancve was what honeslty one of the better experiences you had to what almost file suit on coan and you barly gave the product a chance if you had tried to figure out what was wrong first knock retard or something i wouldnt be saying anything if it was know to of been a ****y converter it took slacker over a year to finaly run a good number with it you think yours is gonna happen over night on what wernt you on drag radials

the fastest v6 on this board is running a yank Actually, your information is INCORRECT again. It's a Precision converter. And, I threatened Coan Racing with a suit because they charged a restocking fee to my credit card after they sold me the WRONG converter with the incorrect bolt pattern and stator (after I returned the part).

You're STILL not answering MY questions though. I'd like to hear what you're running and how exactly YOU use Autotap. I'm not looking for second-hand misinformation. Also, I would appreciate it if you would at least try to have a mature conversation on this subject matter without using foul language.

your saying 12 sec is not the fastest?

hrm currently i do not use autotap i have no need for it all i have is intake and exhast why would i need autotap.

you on the other hand are blown and sprayed and you dont, if i was sprayed or blown i deffently use autotap just for the safty of my motor that and also for performance.

your setup might be fine for you but i would not recommend it for the average person. Also where i live it is real hot so i may would have more of a problem then you

is that your daily driver or do you have a beater?
