With the complete roll-over of the St. Marys Police department along with the entire city council, things are starting to shake up in this small town. Strangly, the first thing to go is the monthly dragracing.
The City of St. Marys, PA is a rural town filled with farm land and bars with an airport set off to the side. To short for most planes, the strip is home to just a few locals and had very little traffic. This, of course, made it the perfect place to hold monthly, if not more often, drag races for the hot rodding crowd in the area.
For the small price of $10, you could take your beater down the track in heads-up racing from 12PM to 6PM, weather permitting. The biggest drawback to this track is it's elevation.
And the local crowd wasn't big, so you'll find yourself back on the track practically before you leave.
Currently, the last weekend in June is scheduled to be the last of the St.Marys dragraces for reasons still unknown to the public, but most feel it has something to do with the city council of this small town.
Someone never got that street rod they wanted while growing up.
