As you all may or may not know I sold my bird and purchased an 01 SS. Before the car was sold the motor was tore down and totaly rebuilt with GTP internals after I broke a rod. After the rebuild I put the car on a massive diet, everything that could be removed was removed. I never weighed the car but I am sure it was just as light if not lighter than Magnus's or James's cars. I made several runs after the rebuild, none on the bottle and ran a best of 13.98@96 N/A 2 weeks before I sold the car. The guy that bought my bird had his hands in on everything that was done to it since I had so he knew the car very well. Lastnight I wish I could have been at the track, but I had other obligations Anyway he just called me and told me about the runs ha made lastnight, 3 runs on the bottle and 1 N/A run and they went as follows

Run 1: 14.01@97 1.91 60'
Run 2: 12.51@107 1.84 60'
Run 3: 12.51@108 1.80 60'
Run 4: 12.49@108 1.72 60'

I told him he should register here, he says he never has time to get online, which is probably true. He owns his own shop and works till 10 or later during the week and he is at the track all weekend. He owns a 92 GMC Syclone that runs low 10's and has seen a 9.99 run and a 96 Impala that runs very high 11's. I'll have to find the site, but he has one of the fastest Syclones or Typhoons on the East Coast

so how much was this rebuild?

so you ran better times with the dropped compression?

im seriously looking to rebuild my motor with lower compression and stronger internals...

I got everything I needed for the rebuild for $700. My buddy, the one who has the car now, works at the local GM dealership and got me a great deal. Labor was free, as me and him did all the work. As far as the compression goes, I never did a compression test, so im not going to speculate on that ;)

Before you rebuilt your engine, you already had trap speeds of 94 mph in a 1/4, and 107 on the juice, in an automatic! You must've had a factory freak to begin with. What was your secret?

Eh, no secret really. The car ran a best of 15.5@89 bone stock, that includes an open 3.08 rear end. I guess it was just alot of playing around and trying different combinations, not to mention the driver skill ;)
