  • Guesses on what i would run in the 1/4 ....

    under perfect conditions, and driven optimally what would you guys think i would run the 1/4 mile in.... i'm hoping that high 13's is ur answer, but i'm not too sure, never taken her to the track, just do street racing...How much HP do u think i'm putting out? Close to 300?

    1997 Firebird 3.8 M5
    -6lb Powerdyne Supercharger w/ K&N Cold Air
    -Custom Air scoop for cold air
    -Edlebrock Catback (RPM Series)
    -Cat removed, and replaced with 3" piping
    -RK Sport Headers
    -NGK TR6 Spark Plugs
    -Taylor Spiro Pro Plug Wires
    -160* Hypertech Powerstat
    -Auburn High Performance Series Posi
    -3.73 Gears
    -Single Piece Aluminum Drive Shaft
    -Spec Stage 3 clutch
    -I'd be running with 18" rims all around, 275/40's in the rear

    on a good day i expect the blower to push out somewhere around 7-8 psi of boost, i've hit 9psi with it before so... i'm thinking to estimate it at around 8psi. I'd also be running Royal Purple 5W30 in the motor, and Royal Purple rear diff oil as well.

    just trying to get an idea of what this thing can do..

    any input would be appreciated thanks...

      Yea, I would say low 14's maybe high 13's, those 18's are probably hurting you pretty good. I would say you're probably pushing about 280HP or so.

        280RWHP? riiiiight.

        trade those 18s for some 16 draglights with at lease nittos, if not et streets, on them and launch the piss out of it.

          I say mid-low 14s. The 18s are gonna hurt your track times plus since you have never taken the car to the track before its going to take some time to get the launch down right. I would say that the max rwhp you would be putting down is 250hp. Get some smaller tires/rims and you should hit high 13s low 14s.

            Thanks for the help guys.... i never thought that the 18's would kill me that bad.... i'm gonna hold off on getting 16's with drags for a while, as i never really go to the track, and don't really have the money for it...if anything maybe i'll just borrow off a friend....

            how much in the quarter-mile do u think i lost jumping from 16's to 18's?

              you can usually pick up a pair or salad shooters or 5 spokes pretty cheap. check around on a few boards... or just borrow some from a friend, shouldnt be hard to find. 18s are gonna be heavy

                I dropped .4 off my times with just my rear 16's on, i have 18's also.

                  wow! i thought the 2" difference would maybe cost about .1 or .2 at the most for the 1/4 ........ .4 secs eh? that's soemthing to consider for when i go to the track.... maybe i'll just swap my friends nitto's of his GTA....

                  i'm still shocked at the .4 ..... but thanks for the info, its something i really need to take in acount.

                    That dude also has 3.08 gears which really hurts, so with your gears, maybe not .4 more like .2-.3
