• I have a deeper appreciation for my local track

I went to Jacksonville's 1/8th track (I'm here on vacation visiting some people) last night for some fun and I've never dreamed a track could be this bad. I always felt my local track was bad (it still is), but this definately takes the cake for being worse EVER.

1.) Full of RICE (I could beat EVERYTHING there...never true at Moroso)

2.) Fastest car was my friend's SS with NITTOS spinning to a 2.1/2.2 60' and running LOW 9s.

3.) Why so bad w/Nittos? No VHT and a wet dirt road for a staging lane. Everyone got sand/dirt on the track so forget tractiobn.

Believe it or not as bad as the track was I still had fun. You didn't have to wait an hour between runs. I hotlapped the car three times.

ROFLMAO at my times but you know what, I beat everything so it was all good.

    10.00 @ 70.55 (2.31 60' ) but I beat a pickup that ran 12.3 @ 58.

    10.04 @ 70.4 (2.37 60' ) and barely beat a Mustang GT (9.86 @ 73.74) I beat him on RT my .58 to his .88.

10.4x @ 70.2 (SPUN THE ENTIRE 60' with the car going sideways...yes the V6 CAN do that and pulled a........... 2.667 60' ROFLMAO ) but I beat a sentra SE-R that stalled off the line. Even if we did get it going fairly he wasn't catching me since he only trapped 68mph.

Still fun...mainly because I could beat everything since the cars were horrible here. I wasn't looking to set any records here.

That seems like the ONLY valid thing that was actually bad about the track. The people that attend the track have nothing to do with how bad it is. In any case, it's a good idea to go to a few different tracks if you can to find the best one. A wet, dirt road for a staging lane is ridiculous.

I've been to a track where the fastest car there was running low 9's. I'm confused why you put those in a " 1, 2, 3" format as if to list the things wrong with the track. Does your friend usually run better than low 9's? Most people will judge a track being better than the others due to better traction, which is in most part true. Elevation can also play a key.

And nice race against the GT

The RT has nothing to do with the total time. The time doesn't start till you trip the start line. You could sit at the line for as long as you want after the green. Your time isn't going to start until you go.

Your faster RT had nothing to do with beating him. You were just faster

That is incorrect. Reaction times wins you races. A 14 second car can beat a 13 second car if the 13 sec car has a sh!tty R/T.

You are correct in that your E/T starts when you go. But if they both had the same R/T, the GT could have won.

Let me clarify, if you just compare times then the RT has nothing to do who wins. Obviously, your RT will help determine who crosses the finish line first which would matter in who wins.

I think what I was trying to point out was that your RT has nothing to do with your total time. However, your faster RT time could defintely determine who crossed the finish line first.

Now since I think about it just ignore my post. It was stupid

I crossed the line first against the GT hence I won...and only won because I got off the line first. He was crusing by me as we passed the 1/8th marker.

Yes traction/staging lanes was the only bad thing about the track.

I tried launching at "1/3" throttle on my last run and still spun to a 2.66 It was HORRIBLE. My friend's SS usually gets 2.0/2.1 on stock tires and now he's on nittos and he pulls these times...track sucked! He's usuall in the mid 8s at around 85mph or so on the 1/8th.

I completely forgot that this was an 1/8 mile track.

              hence my quote..

Those cars were running 9's in the 1/4 mile. ;)

In any case, I'm sure you'll be glad to get back to your local track.

Ditto. LS1's in the track we like to call Nastysota in Navasota, Texas (20 miles from College Station, Texas) usually run in the mid 8 range. They also cal Nasty the "gravel pit" since there is Noooooooo tracktion. ;)

sounds rough... at OSW I think they spray oil instead of vht.
