• Awesome R/T...track #'s not too hot though

Ben Bruce Speedway in Texas was the location. Got a best R/T of the night out of everyone with a .5003 That was definatly the highlight of the night. I did manage to drop from a best of 16.2 the last time to a best of 15.8 this time. Only mods i had this time that i didnt last time are my 160 thermo, fan switch and an almost empty tank ( as opposed to a 1/2 full one last time) and i removed my spare tire and jack. I still feel like my car is a dog when it hits third gear. Heres my best "times" of the night. Maybe someone can offer a little advice.

Best R/T----------.5003
Best 60ft---------2.23
Best E/T 1/8th----10.12
Best E/T 1/4------15.85
Best 1/4 MPH------86.91

It seems to my my car should be faster than a 15.8 but it isnt. It did respond well to the simple cheap mods i did...so i guess thats a good thing. Just have to keep playing with it I guess. I really need AutoTap. Thanks guys and gals.

Good job on the r/t!!

This time of year is hard to get good times. I was getting 15.7 @ 87 with my y87 car and minimal mods. (thermostat, k&n) In slightly cooler weather.

It took better tires and exhaust to get me to a 15.4 time.

Yes i know my exhaust is killing me. I had my old y87 muffler taken of and the guy just welded in some 2 1/4" pipe with a few bends and added some tips. Thats gonna be the next big thing i save up to do is the full exhaust. Ill have to get some pics up on my website of the exhaust....its like a tangled mess. Guess im kinda answering my own questions about my times. Full Exhaust is definatly gonna help me out. But 1st gotta order my racing stripes and get my gauge face put in and the new dash board i ordered not to mention the console lid I had to buy because the other one broke. Thank god for GMpartsdirect.com, saved me a fortune! Id rather have a clean well maintained car than a super fast one. The speed will come though.....

Yeah, a not so great exhaust system can keep the ets high. It should be possible to hit lower though, even in fairly hot temps. I ran my times in the sig on a fairly hot day in the spring. Did you let the car cool down completely. One time I ran 16.0, 16.0, 16.1 hot lapping without letting it cool before the first run. I let it cool off (WITH THE HOOD UP) for half an hour or so, ran it again and voila, 15.7. .4 difference!!!

It's hot though, so you may not be able to do much to get the trap speed up. However, with Y87 you may be able to get that '60 down another .1 or so. Since I had the pos 1800 stall I had to get another converter to get a decent '60, so feel lucky you have the Y87 package.
