I'd start practicing if I were you.

Mine releases 4 of the 5 straps with a 1/4 turn of a palm size knob... The 5th strap stays connected to the latch, and both lay in the front floorboard.

Strapping in is easy too. Easier than I thought. Just like snapping a seatbelt in.

But I don't have a roll bar, which is a no-no with shoulder harnesses. Otherwise your head is held up and it becomes the roll bar...

Your track tech guy filled your head with BS, or maybe they are making it a track rule only which they have every right to do. My dad owns an NHRA sanctioned track and is a certified tech inspector and this rule is NOT in effect

That's somewhat true but incomplete. Hardtop cars have additional braces on the left and right side of the roof. Much more sturdy that a T-Top in the event of a rollover.

With a 5pt it would be pretty hard to lean over to the passanger.

The passanger lean is a critical move performend in my car quite often that cannot be sacraficed.

I am SOOOO with you on that one keith! No cages for me. Driving a stick and tryin to mack with the ladies is hard enough, let alone with a cage in the car

But I wonder what the ladies would say when they crawled in my car and I strapted them down :D

everyone who says t tops is just as stable is right but they are also wrong. i think in the event of a roll over id like the hard top. no glass to scatter in my skin and additional roof panel for the car to slide on

but this rule seems like it is up to the tracks to enforce or not.. HRP does enforce it.

Its a track option rule, don't be mad at the tracks, be mad at their insurance provider

well i was going to go back to the track for my quest for 11's, hoping to be kicked off when i hit that 11.XX run..... now I'll be kicked off before they even see me run

Maybe I can convince them last time out I ran like 14.05 and at least get one run in

Better yet, I'll use and abuse HRP's first 1/8th mile for times and then take my sweet *** time after that, maybe park and eat a sandwich before I cross the 1/4 mile mark

I talked with the owner of a super charged, nitrous WS6 last night at the car show about the new rule. He says he's never heard of the new T-top rule yet, but he says he will never put a cage in his car. It is his daily driver and a cage would be too much of a PITA. Every time he's been to the track, he just makes his one run and then gets kicked out.

He was in the mid to high 10's without nitrous!

Well this defeats the purpose of Pathogen - a luxury race car (all options, less AC, full nterior, and show condition).

This is just another excuse for them to keep us small guys off the track.

So much for racing at SLP day.

CALL YOUR LOCAL TRACK, CHECK THEIR RULES, THIS IS NOT A RULE THAT IS REQUIRED BY NHRA!

They still consider a t-top car a coupe and it must follw coupe rules, although some tracks see it differently and it is their right to put this rule into effect. Its for your safety and to save their *** in the event of a wreck. I dont get why people get all pissy over these rules, they are safety rules and rules tracks must follow for insurance purposes. If you wanna go fast you gotta pay the price, and if you wanna blame somebody, blame the idiots who have accidents and then sue tracks, don't blame the tracks/nhra or the rules
