Hey guys I just wanted to ask yall, with a tight budget, what are the best mods to do? I already have the exhaust and intake stuff down, what else is there? Im going to get a 160 thermo, and im thinking about a weight reduc. when i go to the track. My previous best is 15.91. Let me know what yall think. Also what all should be takin out when doing a successfull weight reduction. I want to break at least a 15.80 and im going to wait until october to go to the track again. Also if anyone is from Oklahoma, would you like to meet at thunder valley on October 24? Let me know, we can have a big group there or somethin... maybe a car club??? anyways I want to run mid 15s. Thanx yall

LOL, get use to no one answering. I guess you have to be in a click to get any help from around here, but I will give it a shot.
Give us/them a little more info on your car like is it an A4 or M5.
A 160 stat would be good, but put in a manual fan switch, that really helps lower the temps a lot.
I made my manual switch by following directions I found on here, it cost me about 15 bucks and about 3 hours to install, thats being very careful not to screw something up.
Torque converter if you have an automatic. I think that will be my next mod, but I havent totally decided yet. I read at least a 3000 stall. I think I want to find more info about converters first, since this is my daily driver I want something that is very streetable (is that a word?) The cheapest converter I have found is 425 and I dont know how much installation is.
Gears, what gears do you have? I had 3.42 till last thursday, now I have 3.73. I saw a 1/10th and half drop in my 1/8th mile track times. From a 9.991 to a 9.84, I think I would have seen something better if I would have went with 4.10, but since its my daily driver and I drive 140 miles per day round trip, 4.10's would have killed my MPG. I havent seen a big difference at all in MPG switching between the gears I have now and my old ones YET. I paid 100 bux for my gears, another 100 for the rebuild kit for my rear end, and 100 to install.
Thats about all I have to recommend
Anyone else have anything for cheap mods? Or want to dispute my honest opinion?!!!TOWN IDIOT!!!

Well lets see, I have an a4, 2500 stall, 3.42 gears, and already have a manual fan switch :D Sooo, I guess without blowin up the bank, all i have left to do is the thermo... gears would be nice but i just dont have that kind of money. I actually did have 4.56 gears (after a persuasion from bad people....) but i heard a lot of bad raps from people so i didnt install them, i instead sold them and lost about $50 in the deal. :( So other than that, I really dont know what i can do. For weight reduction the easiest is to remove the passenger and back seat. Try racing with about a 1/4 tank of gas. Empty out your windshield washer fluid, make sure the spare is out of the back. Empty out your CD collection and anything else not bolted down, Leave your subs home for the night...Anything that's reasonable to pull out for the evening.
Put some good gas in it, try to get the engine cooled down good and go for it.
Good Luck -

You said you have exhaust done. Does that include headers? Pacesetters are $200 and they gave me more of an SOTP gain than anything except n20.
What about your drag run itself. Can you drive? Post more about your timeslip. I went to the track one night and made 10 runs. The first was a 17.70 and the last was a 13.99. Perfect your driving technique.
I have slp ram air, whisper lid, pacesetters, flowmaster 80, 160 thermo, and I run a 15.00@ 90 in witchita. (without n20)

Well my best time is 15.91 and my worst time is about 16.4.... I dont have headers, just a cutout behind ypipe (i lose no takeoff but i am .4 faster on quarter mile), my tranny is slipping a little, i think i need a transmission cooler (?). Like I said i have a new cold air intake (90* rubber elbow from home depot + K&N cone filter.. straight down). 2500 stall, i am a very good driver of this car, it might not seem like it but i know this cars shift points and mph from front to back. I run 16" rims (off of the newer camaros-chrome 10 spoke i think) but i run 245/50/16 all the way around. When I ran the 15.91 I did spin the tires a LITTLE bit. Still pulled 2.32 60'... Good? Also I think my c-clips are bad in my rear end... Will this effect my 1/4? I dont see why it should... Also, by the pacesetters, are you talking about the black ones? Cause you can get those off of ebay for under $100 plus the ypipe... I will definitely do the weight reduc and the thermo. maybe the headers if you guys think theyre worth it and if i can get the money in time. I plan on going in October so i have a LITTLE time1996 CamaroRS
15.5 @ 86
Sold

2000 Z28 Convertible 3700lbs
Lid, Cutout, yank 3600 Stall, built trans, snall cam, NX Wet kit.
11.3 @ 118
Best 60\' is 1.58
497 RWHP 475 RWTQ

Just make sure to keep your old stat - if it gets cold in the winter, you don't really want the 160 in there...
Gonna get my turd out to the track for the first time tomorrow if it doesn't rain. Found out the rack/pinion mount is bent on the 69, so I'm gonna be racin' something :D
I'm going to use it as a test on the new Gtech pro competition meter. Gonna compare it to track time on the same run - We'll see if they're very accurate or not. Also, I'm going to make a run total stock, one with K&N and baffle removed, and then one with hypertech III programming. If I have time I'll plug in the MAFT after that.
