Well I hit the track for the first time ever in my life, I've always watched but this was the first time I ran. I had no idea what the hell I was doing and was a bit nervous.
So I immediately went right by the staging lights then I back up to set it up again. Well after going in reverse I put it in [D], or at least I thought I had. Apparently it was somewhere in between neutral and drive effectively putting it in neutral, this has happend to me before and is mostly due to a worn shifter.
So I start brake torqueing and as soon as the light turns I let go of the brake and go nowhere. I look over and my shifter is right in between neutral and drive so I tap it then I feel the rear end break loose and as soon as it caught I was immediately thrown into the back of my seat.
The run had some horrible times on it but I will say it was friggin hilarious. I got out of my car after the run and just starting laughing hysterically it was about the funniest thing I've ever seen at the track. The RT on that turned out to be 4.83 seconds and the 1/4 time was a 16.8 but I trapped reasonably high at 87mph.
So I was able to get one more run down and did a much more respectable job with an RT of 1.38 and a clock of 15.89 seconds at 89mph. And that was with noticeable spin.
So hopefully if I start practicing a bit and hit the track a bit more often I should get some better RTs and a better launch in turn getting me a lower time because I know my car is faster than what I ran tonight and I think it is evident by the time slips.
Well any tips, or thoughts on the nights events are welcome. Hope this gives a few of you guys a good laugh.
