• MPH is important!!!

MPH is directly related to your horsepower.

I see so many threads here where people post their ET but leave their MPH out. They say they ran such and such number two weeks ago (neglect to post MPH) but then run worse this week (again forgetting to put MPH).

It's VERY hard to judge if you are down on power if you don't post your 60', 1/8'th ET & MPH and 1/4 ET & MPH.

If you did a few mods and think you should have gained some power yet still run slower ET's.. check out your MPH.. did you pick up any?

Don't forget to factor in the weather too.

91.4MPH stock here, and yes its very important, moreso than ET if you're looking at the car's capabilities -- not your own :D

I hate that dead spot. I want to take a pipe and go BANG BANG BANG BANG ;) on my engine whenever I have to pass someone on the highway at 45-55 mph.
Someone once said an aftermarket torque conv. will take care (some) of that dead spot??

aftermarket verter and gear takes care of all dead spots.

How many posts in here are about looking for help yet no MPH is ever posted. it's like shooting in the dark.

I hear ya...I know I'm fine for topend against an 5-speed tho. I go from 71ish to just a hair under 89. That's an 18mph gain...which most guys make from the 1/8th to the 1/4 anyways.

Topend I'll win. 3.42 X 1.00 and the manual has a 3.23 X 1.00. :D Just let's go from a 50 roll.

Thanks for the info Magnus. That explains my mph after I changed my gears. I'm still at 82 but I dropped .3 so far.

Thanks, I thought so. Normally when you hear about torque converter, it is in reference to launching, don't hear too much about benefits from going from a roll.

Damn, I wish I'd gotten interested in cars sooner.

Damn I keep seeing people with high 80's for trap speeds. My 1998 bird with Y87 only got 82 and 83 mph when I took it to the track. I have 3:42's And an auto Only mods were a 3inch dynomax ultra flow catback, however my cat was done for......would the cat make that much diff in mph. my et's were 16.3 16.1 it was rather hot outside as well.

If you're ever in Texas, we'll roll race your way. I have an M5, and I feel very confident saying that I could pull you like you were a stock Civic.

LOL...care to take up with two M5 drivers who trapped 89 and 90.8? I'm slow to the 1/8th marker only...slugging it at 70-71ish. 60' is not a problem tho...it's that damn second gear.

That kinda pisses me off, yall talkin about your trap speeds... I have ran at the track about 30-40 times.... My average 60' is about 2.3-2.4, 1/4 time is 15.9-16.1, trap speed from 85-86. Only 86 mph??? A4 with 3.42 gears, launch at 2500 RPM.. Now my best times are 2.3 60', 15.91 @ 86.03 mph. 1/8 was 10.2 @ 69mph. Where is my problem??? I ran stock when it was hot, only an exhaust cutout behind the y pipe. Now I have a cold air, so I guess well see when i go to the track on friday...

Also i noticed in other posts people saying to remove the sway bar for better launches.. How does this help, and is that the bar underneith the engine across the engine bay??? also, is this very hard to remove? And will it effect your normal driving?

I dont care how the hell you launch, if you don't COMPLETELY screw yourself and launch in reverse (ahem) you should be able to pull consistant MPH for the 1/4.
