Went to the local 1/8 mile track tonight with the TAMSCC(Texas A&M Sports Car Club). Was my first time at the track, and sucked *** my first run... spun all the way through 3rd. Finally beat it down to whats in the profile. I have the slip beside me, but no scanner in my dorm room, but if I find one, i'll be happy to scan it! Damn sure was a great night for racing! Do you have the 3.42's and LSD? That is a pretty good time and trap speed. Are the manuals really that much faster than the automatics?
I am jealous of your numbers, please tell me you have the 3.42's and LSD so I don't feel so bad SLP CAI, K&N, Whisper Lid, 180* thermo, manual fan switch, 3.42 gears, Auburn Pro LSD, Wester\'s PCM Tuning, TSP Rumbler, High Flow Cat. Best Time: 9.909@71.58 (1/8 mile)

Oh yeah, that is a great R/T for it being your first time at the track! Did someone give you some advice before you staged?
The first time I ever went down the track I think my first reaction time was like 1.3 or something. An old timer pulled me aside and said something along the lines of, "you are waiting for the green light aren't you.? I'm like "uhh, isn't that what you are supposed to do?" He chuckled and said, "if you see the green light you have already lost."
Obviously his advice was quite helpful I went to the track last saturday and my best R/T was .542 and my worst was .690. I was pretty consistent, now since I am consistent I am going to work on getting even better R/T's. If you are against a car that is pretty even performance wise with you (or even faster) that .1 can make all the difference.
I don't know about all tracks but the track I go to the older racers are very friendly and helpful (I am almost 30 so when I say older I mean 50'+). These are the guys that build their own cars with crate engines and are running 5's- mid to high 7's (1/8 mile).
They guy that gave me the advice I mention above has a 87 or so Camaro that orignally had the 2.8 liter V6 in it. He put a crate engine in it and his exhaust dumps under the car. It is pretty fast. Saw him run a 7.7 or so at 95 mph in the 1/8 last saturday. Very nice guy and he loves to go fast.SLP CAI, K&N, Whisper Lid, 180* thermo, manual fan switch, 3.42 gears, Auburn Pro LSD, Wester\'s PCM Tuning, TSP Rumbler, High Flow Cat. I got a .505 R/T my second time at the track, but it's probably one of those things that won't happen again but it was still nice. My ET still sucks, but my trap speed isn't bad.Black 2002 Camaro M5-SS takeoff muffler, B&M Ripper, K&N Filter, 35/20% tint, Infinity speakers, Viper alarm, perpetually breaking clutch return spring mod. 15.49@90.15
Pewter 2002 Firebird M5 (Dad\'s Car)

i actually have 3.23's and an open rear. i have an lsd at home, but havent gotten it installed yet. i was so stoked when i go that ticket... that reaction time is a one time thing i know, because other than that, i was hitting .8+... my second best time of the night was a 10.161 with an RT of 1.767, a 60' of 2.489 and a trap speed of 70.175... i know the 9.5 was sheer luck, but hell, im still happy with it! i want my lsd!!!1998 Red Firebird M5
not enough mods

Kick that second person out of the car! One of my friends wanted to ride with me but I just told him I didn't have enough spare horsepower to waste on his fat butt He rode with my other friend who has a Z06 instead, he has plenty of hp to spare.SLP CAI, K&N, Whisper Lid, 180* thermo, manual fan switch, 3.42 gears, Auburn Pro LSD, Wester\'s PCM Tuning, TSP Rumbler, High Flow Cat. im not totally stock... and i know the run was luck, i mean, look at my second best time. How i landed that RT and 60' is beyond me, but oh well, i can still say i ran it, and still have the slip to prove it! :D1998 Red Firebird M5
not enough mods

I am not meaning to rain on your parade or anything but are you sure that was your time? That seems like an incredible time for a car that was mostly stock and had a open diff. Were you running against another car? If so, is it possible they mixed up the lanes? I have had that happen to me before were the other lane's times were under my lane and vice versa.
Of course if you made the run by yourself I guess that isn't possible. That just really seems like a good time for a mostly stock car with 3.23's and an open diff especially combined with the fact that your second best time was a 10.161 which is a little more in line with what would be expected.
However, I guess anything could happen. Maybe I am just jealous
If you did run against another car what were their numbers?
