• Ran for first time, feel stupid

I ran my car for the first time. But i kept the a/c on in the staging lanes to keep the fans running. I waited so long i forgot about the a/c. i ran with the a/c on (moron). Well my time was 16.49 at 84.39 mph.THat is bone stock. I now have free ram air mod, smoothed out air lid,new plugs and wires, air silencer delete. anyone have any idea what i can run now with the a/c off. By the way i had 95,000 on the spark plugs and a misfire in cylinder 2 when i ran.

having the A/C off wont' do a damn thing. it overrides the system when you go WOT. my track times did not vary at all with it on and off.

Ummm.... Call me Captain Obvious, but wouldn't you want to fix the problems with your car before you race it??!?!? Why intentionally beat on a car that is already huring??? It's not going to magically get better. What the fook is wrong with you?

i ran cause i was at the track and why the heck not. Just wanted to see what time i could get right after i bought it, then compare it to once it is modded. And i wasnt at wot i didnt want to hurt it that much. plus i was low on gas didnt want to run out

              Ac won't make a difference...

But for you and pretty much anyone else reading...

Having your car running good is more important then mods.

A nice running car with a good intake and complete exhaust might see 15 hp increase,

Same car not running may still see -10 hp slower then stock because they have somethieng like.

With a cylinder misfireing you are not using one cylinder, and the cylinder is dragging the rest of the motor down, so in a way you were driving a sickly 5 cylinder.

Always good idea to have the important systems running right.

You don't deserve your car. You wanted to go to the track to see what times your car runs, yet it's having problems in the first place...then you don't even go WOT while you race..that 'could' be the dumbest thing I've ever read. And you were worried about running out of gas..WTF. It sounds like you were just driving around, and you pass a track so you decided wtf, I'll go get some times.

You're times don't suck because you left your A/C on..They suck because you don't know how to drive your car down the track.

ok, so after i read this thread about the a/c being on/off & whether it effects et, i went & looked at my atap.

atap gives you a reading between 0-5V on how much load the a/c is putting on the car, with 5v being the highest load.

at idle, turn the a/c on, it jumps to about 2.5-3.0V. turn the a/c off, the load goes back to 0.5-1.0v EVENTUALLY. (30-60seconds)

so, according to atap, even after you turn off the a/c, it continues to place a load on the engine, for up to 60 seconds.

your a/c should be turned off as soon as you enter the track. You can get kicked out if they see you dripping water(or anything) on the track.

Not at Orlando Speed world ;) If oyu have 4 wheels, and cash you can do what you want. Nothing like a good ole boy with a blow torch on the nitrous bottle and a can of beer in the other hand in the staging lanes.

I run with my AC on, gotta be comfortable. With an automatic it's boring after the launch, especially with a 15-second car, so I turn my cd player up really loud too.

Having the AC on didn't do anything to hurt my times. If anything, it can help your car run better IF you have it running in the staging lanes. That's the only way my fans will turn on, if the car is running and AC is on. I need a manual fan switch.
