  • Ran the Hawk today...

Camarozach and I hit up our Indiana dragstrip.
Had a TON of fun driving there, doing the track, and driving home.

My first run made me laugh so hard...yes, I RAWK. 19.6, BOOYAH! I spun sooo damn much. Gotta get used to the power, hehe.

Second run, spun more then my first. Car started gettin all crazy sideways so I just let off and coasted.

I was gettin mad pissed so I let Zach take it down twice. He pulled a 13.49 @ 103.4mph and a second run of a 13.45 @ 103.4mph. I knew it had potential.

Took it again, did a better burnout. Only a little spin when taking off. Results:

    60ft - 2.022
    1/8 - 8.652
    1/8mph - 83.64
    1/4 - 13.377
    1/4mph - 103.66

BOOYA! Now I just need a good tire and better launchin skills!

EDIT: I should add that the cutout didn't get installed so this was all in stock form.

VERY nice baselines matt. sweet 60' for stock street tires as well.

Look for a used beat up yank 4400 stall.. You should be able to get one for $400, then ship it back to yank for a fix up.. costs about $200.. then install.. car will be a ROCKET!!!!!!!

Don't all auto Firehawks get the 3.23 gears and 275 tires? I would think with those and the ram air would make more of a difference?

True, I do have 3.23's and 275 tires, but they are mounted on 17" chromes. Only weight reduction I did was taking out the spare tire and jack. My car is ofcourse fully loaded and I was runnin with a little more then a 1/4 tank. It was mid 50's while racin'. My car was at 195 at all times, due to waiting so damn long.

Seems the best stock Firehawk #'s are 13.1's. Haven't seen anything faster. I think the one that did that run had the Bilstein suspension upgrade from SLP.

Just happy that I threw down a good number with the V8 for the first time. ;)

And thanks! We're hittin up the track again this Sunday (US41 style), where I will be MAD happy if I get into the 12's; I know it has the potential with the perfect launch. With the tires I'll eliminate 99% of my spin, thank god.

Got in 6, coulda had a 7th but decided to watch Zach go at it. Coulda had a few more in, but it rained the night before and they had to wait 20 minutes to make sure the conditions on the track were safe.

I know for sure Zach and I are going, along with my buddy who just bought a 99 Z28. Maybe a few others, too!
