• 15.3 possible? ...I guess not :(

    Howdy...

Okay, I pull consistant high 15's, with a few 15.8's in cooler weather on my 3.08 open, SLP CAI, Ravin muffler setup.

Friday i'm having 3.42's, zexel-torsen lsd and 1 pc aluminum driveshaft installed.

I'm hoping for 15.3 and a few extra mph so i can beat a buddy of mine with a 2002 5 spd, cat-back exhaust setup...

    Opinions?

I'm guessing your buddy has 3.42s with LSD too?

        3.23's actually.

I think if I can pull 15.3, I should beat him... unless he breaks out now too

What i'm interested in knowing is what people think my chances are of gaining .5 seconds from teh gears/lsd/alum ds?

I'd say the chances are slim to none of dropping a half second off with those mods. 2 or MAYBE 3 tenths sounds about right to me IF it's real cool outside.

It'll be cold out... suposed to be 4

Do you think only 3 tenths tops because i'll spin more? Or because the jump in gear isn't significant enough?

I saw that only because I saw MAYBE 2 tenths when I went from 3.23 open to 3.42 LSD. It'll help and feel great, but I wouldn't expect half a second out of it is all. Good luck!

Might be possible... I saw some nice gains, nearly .4-.5, with my 3.42s, LSD and lt1 driveshaft but that was a little different, I was able to launch ALOT harder then before, there is only so hard you can launch with an auto. SO may not see the gains I got.

Either way I doubt you will get them your first time out.

I don't know 3.08 to 3.42 is a two step jump in gears. .5 seems a bit high. Try holding the gas and the break hold at like 2k rpm then release the break when the light drops, it works pretty good for me.

i think you'll get .3 to .5, depending on the weather. but i bet your buddy is gonna be running faster too, if it's that cold out :D

Consider the best possible drop in ET that you can get from a mod (say .5 from just a gear swap) cut it in half and that will probably be what you'll get. It's not as easy at the track as it is on paper.
