Welp, the Camaro has been running great for the past couple weeks. I decided it was time to test it out, since it was now MY car (bought it after repairs).
So, anyway here in Say-town the drap strip sits at about 700 feet above sea level (went to Alamo) Track was pretty cool in temperature. Hit a small cold front and air temperature was around 68 or so. Humidity was relatively down too. Conditions were good as far as I was concerned.
I had the car empty except for my CD's and other misc. small stuff. kept the spare in, and ran with a full tank of gas. Was unable to get a race weight.
First run (only was able to make two) was at 35 PSI rear/40+ front. Launched at 2,500 and dumped it. I don't think my burnout was effective (or would be with these tires anyway - stock)
That resulted in a:
2.224 60-foot
15.452 1/4 ET
@ 91.64 MPH
never leaving third gear through the traps (T-5)
The second run wasn't any better. I lowered the rear pressure to 22 PSI, and launched at about the same RPM. The car left the line sideways and resulted in
2.365 60-foot
10.125 1/8 ET
73.50 1/8 MPH
15.643 1/4 ET
@ 91.44 MPH
Both of my reaction times are not worth mentioning, I was asleep on the line posting 1+ R/T's.
That was my first time taking this particular Camaro to the track. Not sure whether to be pleased or dissapointed. I expected stock to be a little faster. But there are several things I as the driver need to work on as far as learning how this car likes to run the track. With only two runs made, I plan on going back this wednesday for a test-&-tune session to get more runs in.
I am hoping to break 15.3's before I do any noteable work to the car. We'll see.
