more tire would be advisable, probably some 285-40-17's would drop you a few tenths off the 60 ft. the 245-50-16's you have give you 4.82" of sidewall and are 9.64" wide. even going up to 255-50-16's would get you 5.01" of sidewall and are 10.03" wide. extra sidewall will get you a little bit better launch, and the bigger contact patch will help even more. 285-40-17's will get you about the same sidewall height and are 11.22" wide. it's a lot mroe respectable if you can pull off quicker times w/ street tires than slicks. plus, it's more street credit since you can't really run slicks on the street.

Wow, those are some awesome times man. Almost makes me miss my 3.8. That pass is almost identical to my buddy's 4.3L Blazer's 12.9 run. He had a 1.8 60' though and ran a 12.9 @ 104. You get that 60' down just a little and you'll have 12s for sure! Kinda ironic that your car is so close to his with the turbo kit. My 3.8 and his 4.3 were REALLY close when they were stock and now you made an almost identical pass and you have boost and he has spray. I guess the 4.3s and 3.8s are just good matches.

drag radials would be just fine.

let's not forget the extra rotating mass with larger wheel/tire combinations.

why not just run some 19x11's, right?

I didn't say anything about getting that much rim on our cars. I think 17 or 18 would be max for a balanced cornering and launching car. I wouldn't mind going with 18x13 rims w/ 335-35-18 tires on my car. Extra rotating mass can be handled somewhat with forged wheels, and would I mind adding a few pounds of rim/tire to have great cornering and great traction on launch? no, i'd be all for it. worried about the tire getting too large of a gearing effect? get bigger rear gears.

drag radials are meant for the drag strip. I'd prefer to be able to back up my strip times on the street, and I'd rather not get pulled over for drag radials, or go slow on corners cuz my sidewall flexes too much. don't judge my opinions navy, they're educated and on topic. I gave Shane a few different avenues of approach besides just drag slicks for his traction problems.
