as cold as possible...atleast mines faster that way...i picked up about .15-.2 from letting it cool off for about 1.5 hrs...it never even got to 160 at the end of the pass...

I disagree. If you take the extremes - If your car is parked outside all night after snow and it is below freezing out, the last thing you want to do is start it up and take off hard right away. I think the engine should heat up to a certain point. What the ideal temp is, I don't know.

Its been discussed before and you want the thermo to be in loop for best gains I believe its 160-170* anyone correct me on that one?

I saw my best time after I had hot-lapped 3 passes pretty much right after each other.

            Temp was at 210.

Smokey unich wrote 212-220 water temp where the water returns to the radiator is best for all out racing.

Alot of people argue the lower the better, some guy even quoted NASA, space shuttle temps or something to try and prove the point....

technically a motor will make more power w/more heat in it BUT the way the computers are tuned it runs richer and more timing when its cold...i can definately tell mines faster cold...

as warm as possible to avoid any kind of timing retard and any pre-detonation of fuel due to heat around the combustion chamber.
                generally around 165-170*

if it gets too cold, the engine i believe WILL pull some timing.
