3.4L 1/8 Times

I don't want to be embarassed, so I need to know what kind of 1/8 times I would run in my 3.4L. Right now all I have a flowmaster cat-back. Any help?

Do you have a manual or auto? Manual I'd say 10.5's if you can drive good. Auto I'd say 10.6-7's depending on weather. Just do some searches and get a good launch.

Thanks, I have an auto and I'll be practicing my launches. Two more things,

1. What is power braking and will it help me?

2. What is the best(cheapest+most effective) mod I can do to lower my 1/8 time?

Power braking is supposed to let you stall up the engine while it's in gear so you can launch at a higher RPM. And one of the most effective mods you're going to want is a 3.73 or 4.10 gear w/ LSD and maybe some Lower Control Arms. Those help out your launches by insane amounts.

Not much... At 65mph my rpms are at 2350 with my 3.73's..

Around town, it'll probably help more than hurt since the car can get up and go easier. On the highway, goin' about 80 or so. Sucks gas like a mofo.

This is not technically true. Your converter will "flash" higher than it stalls. Flashing the converter means just mashing the pedal (simplified): when you mash it, the rpm will go higher than the converter's rated stall.

The purpose of a stall launch is to be able to launch at a higher rpm while maintaining traction. When you mash the gas, the rpm jump quicker, resulting in loss of traction. When you stall up your converter, the launch is better because the rpm don't immediately jump high.

If you have a daily driven highway car, you probably don't want to go higher than 3.42s, 3.73s at the most. Silverbird, that's a lot of rpm for 65.
