• ok, My bone stock times posted(guess I am jsut a really good driver)

alright I made a post trying to get some idea on stock shift points but no luck, I will delete it, I was hoping to keep my stock tiems a little hidden (have a race lined up soon ;) )

But I figure this might get some attention so people will help me out, I know my car has more, I was all over the shift points, nothing precise.

I copy/pasted this from the predator forums, wonder what I coudl do icing the intake, and maybe some mods.

"Alright must set the record straight, this car is 100% bone stock, I replaced the paper air filter, thats it, no weight reduction, no modifications of any kind. No ice, or any other track prep except tire pressure.

2000 NBM 3.8L 5-speed Camaro

Currently has 33,500 miles still on the stock tires(very dead)

1st run

R/t. .763
60' 2.344(I launched it real soft not used to open diffy again)
330 6.523
1/8 9.992
mph 70.94
1000 12.965
1/4 15.466
mph 90.24

I was very surprised with the time I ran, I really only expected a 15.6 at best out of the car

2nd run

R/t .645
60' 2.249(launched a little harder)
330 6.429
1/8 9.908
mph 70.64
1000 12.893
1/4 15.402
mph 89.58

On this run I short shifted 2nd-3rd, and actually went into 4th. I think it was instinct like, my shifts felt like when I shifted on my old 3.4, w/3.42s, except it was all out of the powerband.

3rd run

R/T 0.841
60' 2.196(decent launch I think I can hit one a little harder)
330 6.402
1/8 9.873
mph 70.82
1000 12.853
1/4 15.355
mph 90.25

This run the car was sort of hot lapped, I ran 9 minutes after the previous lap. I think I could have gotten a nice time if the car had time to cool a bit. It stays really hot for awhile, way more then my 3.4L used to.

4th and best Time

r/t 0.446(other guy had a .2 redlight, made me jump seeing him leave)
60' 2.249(little spin and wheel hop, I wanted to get a jump out)
330 6.418
1/8 9.870
mph 71.31
1000 12.831
1/4 15.321
mph 90.65

After tonight I think the car may even have a 15.2, and a 15.1 does not seem unreasonable, this is dead stock! I didn't even ice the intake which actually stays pretty blazing hot between runs.

I was surprised of what I was able to pull out of this car, especially after owning it for a week and the powerband is completely wierd to me. Wasn't expecting such good times my first time out. Hell just only being to the track like 3 times in the last 7 months I think was gong to hurt me."

Alright I jsut want to know the stock dyno graphs of the 3.8L, my first itme out, haven't had the car 2 weeks yet, need some help with the shift points, and the lag on the "drive by wire" system is throwing me off a little.

any tips?

Seems like riing it out past 5k isn't too good, since I am on stocker exhaust and its choked up top end, not sure where I really was shifting sort of instinct, need to unlearn my 3.4L, one run I ran my car like my 3.4L and it was all off on the shift points

either way any hep appreciated.

BTW sacle was closed off, didn't get a weight but I am sure its hefty, its all options except, Y87, t-tops, auto(I prefer it anyways) and leather.

Power everything, monsoon, and ran at street trim even left the spare and jack in.

I told you stock 3.8's where that fast.. but you kept harpin that they run high 15's. blah blah blah..

All it takes is someone that knows what they are doing and a good track/weather.

Shift at 6K and don't look back.

Exhaust, ported TB, and 3.42s, I always got my best times shifting at 6K.

My bird ran 15.47 @ 91-ish stock with a 2.19 60'. Isn't it nice knowing how to shift? ;)

What rpm do you all shift at?

5,000-5500 not sure, I sort of shifted when it felt right

Like I said only had the 3.8L for about a week when I ran it, just tried different things.

I was more concerned on the launch, but I did alot better then I thought I was going to on the launch, then started focusing on the 1/4...

6k seems a little high, I seem to run out of steam around 5500-6k, so I try and shift ~5800

My thoughts are the same... well at least in a stock setup.

Once again, I am lost. in stock setup i could only get a best of 15.9 @ 85 mph. I dont know, maybe the track? I was cutting 2.2 60's which is not too bad. A4,3.42 factory LSD(or posi, whatever) ttops, cloth interior, no spare or jack, ground effects. I dont see how you guys get 90 mph?

My first run at the track was close to what you were pulling, but i guess me shifting at red really hurt me
cause i ran a 2.22 60ft
and a 9.99 1/8th with 69.95 mph
i bet if i was shifting at the right point i could have pulled a 9.90 with that 60 ft.

Track and weather will affect you alot.

My track is known for being slick as hell and weather has affected my ETs byt .5 before, the track is only like 10 mintues form a miles of swamp, sometimes it will get really hot and humid.

The night I went was pretty nice though, little damp(rained all day) but5 a cold fornt came through with some dry air, abotu 50ish degrees.
