You ARE being ignorant. It doesn't take a good driver to win in with an automatic. Also, anything can happen on the street.
MustangEater: I would put my money on the GTP, but I wouldn't be surprised to see you win either.

mustang eater, if your car is still bone stock, your 15.3 is a damn good time. thats what GM High Tech ran. when they pulled the air filter off, and the serpentine belt, they ran a 15.1
i would say that if your car is stock (and a non-y87, cause i dont know if the GM High Tech run was on a Y87 or not), you will not cut a 15.1, unless the track is slightly downhill, you have a tailwind, and it is 10 degrees out.
my money is on the GTP, but like i said, itll give you something to work to.

I know what you are saying, but the car has more in it then what I pulled on those runs, I think I can still pull a few better 60's...
as for Navyblue2000 how did you yank the filter?
I did some test passes, with an open TB last night, didn't notice any gains, maybe even a loss, car stalled out twice when I let off the gas...
After about 10 minutes, car startd running like a bat out of hell, I think the computer just needed some time to compensate. Also what did you do with your IAT? I put mine waay over by the ABS setup.

sort half my thoughts on the race...
As for the Rivera they are slower they are a bit heavier then gtps, freind of mine has one as a beater, and his regular car is a 35ht anicesary SS.

they are slower.. but are still capable of the same times gtps run.
i think you have a chance.. but your gonna have to pray he ****s up the launch96 Camaro M5. mustangeater, i know from experience, leave the lid/filter on. it slows me down ~.3 open TB, about .15 no filter...so don't do that :-p

you MUST leave the lid on, but remove the filter. if you leave the lid on, you'll bog on the launch. when i dynoed i dynoed with & without the filter, keeping the rest of the car the same & i got an additional 4 rwhp by removing the filter, and ran 0.051 faster, although that mighta been a coincidence...but you will get another 4 rwhp or so.
i don't wanna rain on your parade mustangeater...you MIGHT get the win light depending on r/t, but the gtp is gonna have a better et then you ;)

unclip the lid, lift up, pull filter from its base
The IAT goes right in the grommet from the factory. It didn't a bit of good (or harm) for me.
If the intake air charge is ~100 degrees, and you're telling the car that the intake air charge is ~85 degrees by relocating the IAT sensor, all you've done is richen the mix, not adding any significant timing to it.2011 Camaro LS 6M, in black.

what I did wasa remove the two clips that hold the air box in place and pulled the entire intake off and from rubber part that attaches to TB to airbox with filter. Put it in the trunk...
I only reason I relocated the IAT, was to keep it from fallinging into the belts, and pulleys, and I did not want it directly next to the upper intake, damn it gets hot...

Your best chance to win is to launch on him, but even then he will probably pull past you on top end. You have more track experience, get the better r/t. good luck. :D
PS: what is all this talk about relocating the IAT? How would I move it to help my car, would it give me more hp? I'm thinking another free mod. :D

Exactly my thoughts. My friend had a 2001 GTP. I could get him off the line with my Camaro, but that thing just started pulling at 40mph.
Good luck, let us know how you make out.

Its going to be a close race.. The guy probably doesnt know how to launch his GTP and while mustangeater ran a 15.3 stock meaning he is a good driver.. Just heat up your tire good and dont worry about the 1/4 mile.. Think I need to beat him at the 60'.. This will be such a close race that whoever cuts a better light and 60' will probably win..Jeff ..

there are mixed reviews about it, I didn't really relocate the IAT, I just moved it since I took my entire air box, filter, adn everything connected to it and put it in my trunk, the IAt woudl be hanging, so I wrapped it aorund the ABS unit.
Theoretically, the IAT , senses the intake Air temp(hence IAT) then it adjsut the car's timeing, the colder it is hte more it will advance the timing, if its hotter it will retard the timing a little. So if you make it think its colder then it is, then it will advance the timeing heling the car to run a little...
this is all threoretical, alot of peopel clamim power losses, aoms claim gains, either way hurts fuel milegae significantly...
Little more info on the IAT tricker mod here...
www.installUniveristy.com Jsut do a seach and type in IAT mod. Will give a pretty detailed right up.

I still have a little more too pull out of my car stock, the 15.3 was the first time I took the car to the track, not a perfect run yet, my shift points were all over the place...
Either way I amused to launching hard and sticking, I ahd a 3.4L the whole race was in the launch

IF he stomps it at the last yellow, you're gonna win while he's still spining. If he's 1/2 way decent in his launch, well, video tape the race & let's see. I wont call it otherwise.
edit: If he relocates his air filter to THIS , you're gonna loose ;)
