Or just add another battery to make sure you keep your voltage longer. Please make sure you install the 2nd battery in parallel and not series so you don't launch all of your electrical components.

Seriously I watched my battery like a hawk, it held up nicely... There is a mark about an 1/8th of an in. in from the outer edge of the red, it never dropped below that and obvioulsy my check guages light was going off.

That includes me rolling my windows up and down a few times, I thought eventually I was going to have to hook the belt back up and rev it up to get the volts going buy really didn't.

On my 3.4L I drove a good 15-20 miles straight off my batter, when my alternator cable broke.

By the way everyone...

I would not consider my the things I did for exact measures, I ran a best of a 14.9 with the belt on... but there were many factors involved with each day, most important being the driver...

Remeber I have less then 14 passes in this car, I am VERY inconsistant, I have yet to make a pass that is remotely close to a pass that I am comfortable as being a "good pass"

I mean I still bounce of the rev limiter in 1st, I have short shifted 2nd to 3rd(just seems natural to shift it liek my 3.4L, even though the 3.8L has more power in the higher revs). I am in no way consistant with this car.

Personally running open TB and descreened maf was showed waay more of a difference then running no belt, according to the *** -o-meter I might not have gotten great runs when I was running the belt.

Jsut don't want to mislead you guys into thinking these are miracle mods... My times imprving on themselves is more likely to me getting used to the car more, not sheer power from running no belt. If it wasn't the last day of the season I would not have run no belt.

I would ask silver97camaro how he faired without his belt he has had his car longer and probably more runs down the track then I have had with my own car.

Watching the voltage like a hawk only goes so far. If the voltage drops 10% while you were running the vehicle w/ no alternator, that's 10% less spark and then 10% less power. And since battery voltage drain is exponextial, you will continue to loss power. Your car runs off of 14.0-14.6 volts since have to power all of the electrical stuff neccessary just to keep the car running. I have worked on newer cars that when their running voltages dropped below 12.3 volts due to bad battery, alternator, etc, they would die. End point, low voltage = low power output.

ok guess your right, I didn't show any gains, infact a loss....

I'd rather try... whats the worst problem I coudl run into at the track, have to hook my belt back up ~2minutes worth of work and get a jump, which is hard when surrounded by hundreds of car guys with there hoods up.

all I like to do is make car go fast, I try things some things don't work(my last exhasut setup on my 3.4L, it was more street legal but only mustered 15.5s-15.6s out of it, I shoudl have put the cutout behind the CAT)... some do pulling a belt has been known to help granted it is not good for the car over time, I don't plan on doing it often, just when I get to the track, and I have a chance to make a run, I do what it takes. I live to beat my previous runs, I rarely even look at the car next to me at the track, I am for a perfect run in my car with it setup to get the most times I can with what I have on it at the time...

always been like that always will....

...just seems to put out some decent times.

Dummy, what's that about
I am suggesting that because his car may just run that much better. Cam, I would suggest you just be quiet and read. I have seen your other remarks in the past and they didn't seem to be re helpful either. I am not suggesting that this will hurt the car at all. It would be just like using NOS at full pressure or at 3 quarters pressure. You will get benefits with 3 quarters but the benefits would be better at full pressure.

Man your doin pretty damn good considering you have 200 hp and run 14.6, ive seen several 95-97 lt1s run 14.4 -14.7 stock, and they were autos so noone can say sucky driver.

One single belt...

this was the last day the track was open for the year, after 2 weeks of NHRA events, good 400-500 cars, 50ish degrees out, car was dead cold for each run, and iced between runs...

Car only showed actual temp when I stopped, cranked the waterpump a bit after each run, I watched it alot, didn't heat much. Average night at the strip I doubt I woudl have done it without a fan switch, but problems with that is I will kill the battery since I am not running a alternator with not belt..

Non of my accessories worked...
-no waterpump
-no alternator
-no power steering
-no ac
