      To disarm the airbag, just pull the fuse in the fuse block. It will either be labeled on the fuse block or in a wiring schematic (alldata, haynes, gm manual, etc). It immediately disables the SIR system.

        for working on the air bag, my advise is do whatever u can to not put ur face infront of the steering wheel wether its disabled or not

          Disconnect the battery, remove the Air Bag fuse and then disconnect the yellow connector that sends power to the air bag. From there, removal is simple. That is how I did mine when I did the Sparco steering wheel.
