i think ZR1s will slow you down with all that rim and rubber. that's why i'm keeping my 16x8s (just bought a set of ZR1s with two tires... $435 :D ). maybe i'm just paranoid that i'll lose my 14 second car on a fluke set of wheels or something

I'll still have my stockers around... actually half the point of getting the Zr1s... so I cna have a spare set of rims... A decetn spare set was ~$250 locally, and the I got my 4 Zr1s for $400... and I hate my stock rims so it sort of worked out...

I was thinking of putting a set fo tires for autocrossing, since that just seemed to eat my daily driver tires like crazy.. but heck almost considering drag radials and skinnies now

But I am willing to try out the fatter rubber to see what it does at the track.

quote:
but at the track with prep? I can understand in the rain... but 14 second cars do not jsut break traction in the middle of a gear on the gas... they need to "jolt" the tires to break them loose.

on crappy track prep they will, my car here at the track where i go to school even w/the LSD no matter what RPM i would launch at, it could bog then when it got to upper RPM's it would start spinning, but they dont spray this track very good and it was a TNT where a lot of front wheel drive cars were running so water was on the line...

I guess... my track is known for its crap prep... Just seems more prevalant in my 3.8L then my 3.4, probably since the 3.4L ws just all down low...

BTW track pic if anyone cares...

centercap are off since I went to an autocross earlier this month and been waiting for centercaps ffrom SLP for my ZR1s... which I just finished putting on the car.

Just to let you know MustangEater: I like reading your new best posts, even if you did only improve by .07 or whatever. Keep 'em comin'!

BTW: I know what its like to race at a crappy track. I saw them clean up oil spills with mops a few months ago. not exactly good track prep.

Its really amazing that you're running mid-14s in your stock car. I can't imagine how you're running that low of an et and trapping as high as you do  Maybe your track is a little better than what you give it credit for...just a thought.

It's not really stock, he just hasn't spent any money on mod's...i believe the main one he has is removed belt...a little extreme for me, but good job none the less.

It helps alot but, I hit many 14.7-14.8s with the belt on. I think I even hit a 14.6 once.

Its just the thing that put me over the edge with the 14.4, and a few 14.5s
