  • hp calculators?

you guys know of any good ones?

I looked at a few all over the net...

based off of ET I they all say about 240ish, and off of mph 250ish...

any others you guys reccomend because these numbers seeem a bit inflated...

i have a formula that is pretty close to accurate normally, you take the ET/5.825, then cube that number, then take the weightofcar/the cubed number, so a 14.46 at 3400lbs(guess), it took 222.8hp to run that quick

      My raceweight was probably more...

my 3.4L weighed a best of 3160 full interieo, this car has more options, bigger motor. So I assume 3300, I weigh 300, so 3600.

I got 234.99 hp near that 240 mark...

do you have one off of mph, that seems to be a better calculator on average, at least from what I woudl understand.

I have to tinker w/ the weight to get probably a more acturate rwhp number, but gives you a good idea.

            yeah that one estimates...

            Based on ET
            237.60 rear wheel hp
273.24 flyeheel hp  I wish

            MAsed on MPH
            247.50 rear wheel hp
            284.11 flywheel hp  again...

It estimated my car as 3640...

I took off the 40 lbs for spare and jack...

only dropped my hp about 3-5 hp.

DO you guys really think its like that? Even I think its a little high, I know these things are just "ballparkish" but damn....

I really wanna get a weight on my car...

                i like to use www.prestage.com
one thing to remember though, use a calculator that uses your trap speed to figure out your hp. that is the measure of power you get at the track.
ET is a function of how well your chassis and gearing are working more than power. if your car hooks perfectly you can get a reasonable idea from et, but mph will yield the more accurate answer.

I dont know, I guess my 3.4L has about 185 flywheel horse with just exhaust and intake (a few suspension mods)...

I dont think I gained 25 horse with just that, maybe subtract 10 hp... haha i dont think it's that accurate.

Estimated vehicle weight : 3481, seems somewhat accurate.

WOW, first time I feel one of these were kinda close
                      I entered:
                      210 lbs for driver
550 lbs weight reduction from stock 3450
                      (Best race weight was 2950)
                      ET 12.48
                      MPH 110.95
                      A4 tranny

                      Calculated:
                      estimated weight 2971
                      RWHP per ET 302.10
                      RWHP per MPH 316.69

I have put down 315 RWHP like 2 years ago.

First time one of these were close, hmmm

Most calculators are ego inflators. They are old and simply do not consider aerodynamics.

Using those calulators, two vehicles, one being a truck @ 3500 lbs and the other a f-body @ 3500 lbs both run 14.0@100 MPH. Are they both going to make 273 RWHP? No, not at all.

It works out that the truck is making near 273 rwhp and the f-body is making near 244 rwhp.

Take my wife's 99 V6 Mustang. It made 167 rwhp and ran 15.3's@91 MPH. Using the old calculators, it would have made near 188 rwhp. If it made near 188 rwhp, the car would have went almost 95 mph with the car weighing @ 3200 race weight, which it does weigh.

I would bet your 3.8L weighs with you in at 3500 lbs. I would bet you make around 212 rwhp @ that weight.

For newer aerodynamic cars, use 5.63 instead of 5.825 and 243 instead of 234.
