• Ran again last night

So I finaly made it back out to the track last night trying to learn how to drive my car better on the track. Overall I was pretty happy with the way things went, Got a new best of 15.8. Im finally getting a little bit of traction off the line. I was still running with the open dif. My LSD is sitting in my garage waiting to be installed so hopefully that will help out a lot when its finally in. My best time slip was
60' 2.335
330 6.709
1/8 10.252
MPH 68.70
1000 13.321
1/4 15.886
MPH 88.03

So what do you guys/girls think I should do to get into 14s? I know I need to bring down my 60' and Im working on that one know. My car is basically stock except for a few things (mods in sig) I know most racing is expierence and with more the time slip will look better. But Im getting there.

High Flow cat...and practice launching...I'd practice launching first. Is it stick or auto? If it's an auto, powerbrake and bring the RPMs up as high as you can (probably 2500 or so) and then stomp it. Should help get that 60ft. down a tenth or two, which will equal 2-3 tenths in the 1/4. Make sure to ice the intake between runs..that might help a little too.

Your times seem right in line with having 3.08's and an open diffy.

I only have a 1/8 mile track and my best run is 10.165@69.92. I have an A4 with 3.08's and open diffy (although I have 3.42's and and auburn pro LSD sitting in a box in my living room waiting to get installed). My best 60' is 2.3xx. With slicks or drag radials you would see better 60' times but 2.3's with street tires, 3.08's and an open diffy seems about par.

You have a high altitude right?

but still with the trap speed, you shoudl be faster, it looks like your 1/8th mile is hurting which is in correlation of nedding to get better 60's

Slicks and an exhaust cutout should get you into 14's when you get that posi on...

Your mph is pretty decent, but that 60' is definitely hurting.

Your time does not start until you actually start moving (break the light beam). So your RT does NOT count toward your ET.

The LSD and some weight reduction will get you down there a lot. Did you switch back to the lighter stock rims, those 18's looked heavy when I saw them last month..

practice launching. with over 88mph through the traps your car is capable of going low 15's. to get there you have to get that 60ft time down though.
look for mods that will help you with traction out of the hole, not power. once you can hook it then go back and add more power. then learn to hook that(it is a viscious cycle, but a damn fun one )
remeber, racing is about quick, not fast. putting up a big mph looks kewl, but it always looks cooler to win.

Yea I switched back to my 16s for the night. I also removed the spare tire for a little bit of weight reduction, Its probally not enough to make a difference but hey it cant hurt. I was also just trying to gauge where to launch from and finding a point where I could be consistant and not spin to much and that did help. When I was out there last month my 60s where absolutly horrible (around 3.0 and high 2s) but I managed to get them to 2.3 when I launched well.
After I put in the LSD, I will probally invest in a set of LCAs to help get the power to the ground. I dont see a point to trying to add more power to the engine if I can plant what I already have to the ground. If anyone else has any suggestions to help with traction Id like to hear.
Oh also I have 3.23s and an open dif, not the 3.08s
Thanks for all the replys

Thats about right.
At the same track after LSD I could pull a 15.9 on street tires in the smack dab middle of summer, on a 2.3 60'. So I would say a 3.23 LSD car with only the spare out at SIR should run 15-4 or 5 with a 2.2 60' or better. (I haven't ran NA but twice ever..)

On the 27th I will be out there for import/street legal night to run NA only and get a 2.1 or better 60'. Those are the goals.

Hoy much does your amp and subs weigh? I am just curious, because your times are fairly on target. I am wondering if those might be slowing you down.

Hey AZ3.8 I might make it back out there on the 27th, not sure yet tho.
And the subs are not in there anymore, I sold them about 2 months ago, just havent updated the sig.
