• First time at the track - big disappointment

I went out to the track tonight with a few friends. It was a lot of fun, but I think something is wrong with my car cause my times are definitely not what I was expecting with my modifications. Anyways I got to run four times, and I actually won all four of my races, so that's a plus lol. Here's the breakdown:

1st run:
Temp: 68 Humidity: 80 Baro: 29.68
R/T: .699
60': 2.327
1/8: 10.160
MPH: 68.94
1/4: 15.932
MPH: 83.83 (wtf?)
Beat a newer Integra badly on this run

2nd run:
Temp: 63 Humidity: 100 Baro: 29.44
Dial: 15.50
R/T: .892
60': 2.354
1/8: 10.201
MPH: 69.50
1/4: 15.955
MPH: 83.98
Went against a turbo MR2 that ran 13.3 but I won since he dialed in at 13.9

3rd run:
Temp: 64 Humidity: 100 Baro: 29.44
Dial: 15.50
R/T: .697
60': 2.364
1/8: 10.245
MPH: 69.55
1/4: 15.961
MPH: 84.90
Smashed a older-style Integra that ran 17's

4th run:
Temp: 63 Humidity: 99 Baro: 29.44
Dial: 15.80
R/T: .534
60': 2.340
1/8: 10.193
MPH: 69.33
1/4: 15.910
MPH: 84.75
Beat some old beat up Ford truck

So my best time was a 15.91@84.75 MPH. The trap speed is what I really don't understand. I was expecting something like 88-90ish. 84-85 is way low. I was launching between 1500-1800 RPM's. I would just brake stall it and then put the pedal to the floor.

I did have a SES light recently and got a P0301 cylinder 1 misfire. So I installed a new spark plug and the light has not come on since. I don't know wtf is up with my car. The 17's I put on might slow it down a little bit, but not this much. My friend's GSX ran a couple 14.7's at about 90 MPH and he's basically stock. I figured we would be pretty close but I guess not. Kinda sucks but I tried to have fun anyways. I'll just try to get my car fixed and maybe go back in a few weeks.

I have only run on the 1/8 mile track and my best 1/8 mile is 10.165@69.92 with 3.08's and an open diffy with the SLP CAI and a whisper lid to give you something to compare to.

Did you swap from 3.08's to 3.42's? I see you have the Y87 PCM listed as a mod so I am guessing you did a swap to 3.42.

I just did a swap from my 3.08's to 3.42's and my car is so much SLOWER right now. It doesn't shift right at all. I almost wish I hadn't swapped. (although I should be getting my wester's programming anyday now which I hope fixes my shifting woes)

Does your car appear to shift correctly? Maybe that is an issue.

Look at your humidity!

I saw humid #'s of 70+ and was .2 slower and lost 3+ mph in the 1/4.

You were seeing slightly higher humid #'s than me.

BTW, 100 humidity.... that is raining

Yeah I knew the humidity would slow me down, but high 15's with 3.42's and the other mods I have just seems real real slow even for the conditions. My friend's GSX ran about what it should run for a stock car. I don't think he should be 1.2 seconds faster and trap 5-6 MPH more than me.

The shift points are dead on since I put in the Y87 PCM it will shift around 5800 or so. It did seem to kinda hang up there for a second before shifting. I probably should get my transmission serviced next. I replaced plugs and wires about a year ago. The car has 61,500 miles on it.

All of your 60's are like 2.3's
Work on bringing those down and you'll be happier with your times.

Yeah I know my 60's sucked. I read through this forum about how to launch in an auto and I thought I did fairly good at it but the 60's would say otherwise. I didn't spin very much if at all so I dunno. Do you guys think I would get much better 60's if I put on my 16's in the back?

I do have some videos of my launches if anyone would like to see.

16's all around would definately help your time... Our cars in near stock form don't warrent that large of a tire, at least not when the roads are dry.

As posted above. Good times mean you have to get that 60' down big time. We have some real good drivers on this board (not me) hit em up on lowering that 60'. Must master that 60'.

Yeah throw the stock wheels on there when you race and that should be fine for you

yeah next time I will definitely put the stock wheels back on if that will help cut the 60's down a lot. I'll make sure to run with less gas next time too. I had about 3/4 tank when I started racing. I went and got my transmission serviced today and they found a few leaks, so I got those fixed and they flushed it out. So it should be running fine now. Would getting a high-flow cat really help? I probably should have got one when I got my catback...
