• wtf... 16.9 ET?

First time ever I ran 16.92 at 81mph
Reaction time: 1.07

60ft 2.32
330ft 6.87
1/8 10.82

Second run I spun through whole first gear (harder launch) and got:
16.65 at 83mph
reaction 0.97
60ft 2.76
330ft 7.09

Quite embarassing. Any input?

reaction time of 1.07??

Go on the 3rd yellow light. If you see the green light, you know you got a bad reaction.

Uhhh, as far as the shamefully low trap speed: was your foot on the floor?

Those times are slow... but to me it doesn't look like the 60' is all of it. It's definately a part of it, but seeing that you have an m5, I am going to have to guess that you are driving very poorly. Not trying to attack, just saying what I see.

When the yelllow goes out, hammer it. Usually ( and I do mean that most of the time) you can get out of the hole fast and get a good light. Then you have to worry about the wheel spin. but nothing some Nittos and LSD can't fix

don't sweat it... Just feel stupid you didn't post it in the drag racing section and you posted it here...

My first tem out in a 3.8L I was in the 16s...

2.7 60'?

every 1/10th cut in the 60' is about 2/10ths in the 1/4 so...

you run a 2.2 60' not really good, and you just cut your time to a 15.6-.7

People seem to fail to realize their is actually a little skill involved in drag racing, first time you do it you are not going to be perfect.

As for the R/T, don't worry about it yet, doesn't affect your times.

yeah, what he said. Look at my sig, i have enough mph for a significantly lower E.T., and my 60' is just killing my times, it is surely operator error so practice up and know you aren't the only one lol.

My 1st run ever in my F-bod I ran a 17.81 and spun all the way through the 60ft for a 2.55 60ft... It sucked but my 2nd run was a 15.345 and 2 runs later I ran my ET listed below. Just practice. I had drag raced before, just had to get the feel of the car at the track. You should launch harder like a 2000 to 3000 clutch drop and shift super hard.. You'll get much better.. with a little practice.

Here's what happened:

I didn't powershift and on the first run I did get a nice launch, but when I did 1-st to 2-nd shift engine bogged a little, it happens if you don't powershift sometimes. Then I did safe and long 2-nd to 3-rd...

Second time I launched sucky, but still got better ET... this time I powershifted 1-st to 2-nd, but I once again did safe 2-nd to 3-rd (wanted to play it safe, cuz I didn't want to mishift and spin out)... I'm seriously considering hurst short throw shifter now...

However, I came to conclusion that V6 F-body is slow. To be even remotely competitive at the track you have to have at least V8... or put thousands and thousands into V6...

It does have nice torque, but horsepower is lacking...

A V8 still isn't going to be fast if you can't drive it.

My time isn't that good, but it's pretty much all in my 60' time. I want to go somewhere and try another track to see if I could actually get traction. My first times were in the area of yours too, but my MPH always ranged from around 88 to just under 90 even on the bad runs.

Don't worry about your car dude...its your driving. Keep practicing and it will get there. Driving a 5-spd at the track for the first time its really not surprising you ran slow. Oh, and don't worry about reaction time, it has nothing to do with your et.

My first run down the track yielded 16.8 @ 84, and I have an AUTOMATIC, so don't feel bad.

Actually...I've heard of alot of V6 F-bodies running mid 16's. I thought something was wrong with mine like everyone else seems to thats running those kinds of times. Now, I think alot has to do with the rear end gear. I have a 3.8 with 3.08s and the best time i got out of my car was about 16.6. I usually run around a 16.8 and sometimes even low 17's! As far as your 60' time goes thats alot faster than mine. I usually run 2.5-2.6 and trust me...I'm not screwing up. My E.T.s are inconsitant as hell and i drive an automatic. My trap speed is almost identical to yours. So, what i would say is that if you go and check what gear your car came with i would bet it is equipted with 3.08 gears and that its not your fault..the cars just slower than what you were expecting.
