I can see high 13's to low 14's possible with full intake, exhaust, and some weight reductions. But it would be tough without tuning. I have almost full exhaust all I lack is getting my headers on the car.. I'm going to have some stuff done to them 1st though. I'm going to get FTRA in about a month or so. So with LSD, FTRA and possibly I'll have my headers ready, in the fall I should hopefully be mid 14's. Then I'll do some suspension mods, then it's top half engine time. Providing finances are there.

Good luck man.. i'm at a similar stage as you.
I was running 15.8, then i put in the 3.42's and go to 15.6... but now i spin too much so I didn't really get the full benefit of the gears.

My edge converter arrived yesterday and tonight I'm picking up my drag radials, so i think 14's are just around the corner

not to be a troll... but will a torque converter kill daily driving? That's my main question concerning one.. and also, does a tc only help on launches.. or through the entire powerband? Thanks

I dont' have mine installed yet, but i've talked to a LOT of people with them as part of my research, and they ALL say it doesn't kill daily driving, just changes how you drive a bit... and by design the high stall/high str converters give you power at launch and the multiplication factor decreases as you approach lockup(3rd gear)... so it basically gets you going but you lose a bit of top end from the lower efficiency rating.

Does taht make sense?

Well, I'm not sure I know the physics of it, but as you increase the STR(torque multiplication factor) the converter becomes less efficient.

You see the guys saying they got and STR of 2.5 (in other words multiplying torque 2 and a half times) which gives the kick a$$ launch, but it's only 96.8% efficient. This means when you lockup, the converter is only 96.8% efficient at transferring torque to the rear.

This alwasy increases your 60' times and et's, but you usually lose a mph or 2 of trap speed.

hmmmm

lower stall better trap speeds or ?

so my 70 mph rolls would be worse(racewise)

would my mileage go to heck???

Lower STR better trap speed... The stall affects the RPM at which the converter's internals engage and you start to go

The bottom line is stronger launches(which the v6 needs!) and better times, so it's kind of a win/win.

From everyone i've talked to, mileage isnt' affected too bad but in theory, it has to go down

A performance converter is the great equalizer between standards and automatics... having an auto without one is just wrong

When a racer says "you got an 5 spd?" and you say no? Then you can say "but i got a 3200 stall" and his shocked expression will be replaced with an evil grin :D

I can't answer that...
Give me a couple weeks when I get mine installed

I'm sure some converter guys will chime in here at some point.

All i know is I can't wait! :D

STR is Stall Torque Ratio.. :D I have a PI 3300 #8 I still have yet to get the actual STR and efficiency rating yet. I'll e-mail the former owner and find out for sure. I'll let you now when I get my car back... ;)

how much is this costing each of you??

i would probably do this myself. also, will this be harder on my tranny, like will i break stuff or is u-joints my biggest concern?

My rebuild and verter install is running me about $700 the verter cost me $300 shipped I bought it used. The tranny rebuild kit cost me 325.00. so roughly 1325.00 total.

*EDIT* Wooo Hoo my LSD came in today... I will be at the track in about 2 weeks so we'll see exactly what all of these mods do for me... :D
