"Uhm...

Each car you have owned runs slow as crap (compared to how it should run).

I'm going out on a limb here, I am going to say the problem is you can't drive. "

Well the Z-28 I had had 115,000 on it and the car i have now has 69,000. I always get a good launch and on both runs i beat the cars i was racing half way down the track, a camaro ss and a mustang gt.
I seriously doubt its my lack of driving skills, even though some people are just better at pushing the pedal to the floor in an auto.

White_camaro --- i dont think you PCM had time to learn new fuel curves. i have read many times the PCM needs about 40 miles to "learn" for the add air flow" and have heard up to 80 miles......
False. Not with those mods. </font>
with the lid and added air flow the PCM needs at least 40 miles to "relearn"

they drove every car 40 miles what they was tesing the after market lids for the V8 (forget if it was vette or camaro)
</font>
Nah, its not like a lid is throwing MASSIVE air in there. It won't make a difference.

I disagree...

anytime I ever unhooked my exhasut or ran open TB, car ran like *** until the computer compensated then I had more power. Not sure on the mileage but it was more then 20 miles.

Jsut form my experience.

you LT-1 ran really slow and your 3.8 runs really slow. and pushing the gas to the floor isnt the only thing that goes into being a good driver. also, you need to launch your car a hell of alot better.

Well if its my driving then how bout some suggestions? I usually powerbrake to around 1500-1700 rpm and then gun it, i dont get any spin because i have the 3.08's.

And me being a bad driver does not explain why my car ran slower with headers, a cat-back and a whisper lid. Im pretty sure i was a bad driver on both occasions.

Im at 3000 ft and I could definately pull better than a 16.5-16.6 stock. You can AT LEAST get a 2.3 60' out of that. AT LEAST.

LSD = Limited Slip Differential.
Or as most people tend to think Posi even though it really isnt the same thing. Posi both tires are given power. With Limited Slip the tire with more traction is given the power.
You need to read up more on LSD. With a LSD both tires still get power. The tire with more traction will get some power, but not all the power. (unlike an open diffy where the tire with the LEAST amount of traction gets ALL the power).

white_camaro: With just an air lid and SLP CAI I got 10.165 in the 1/8 and a 2.3xx 60' with 3.08's and an open diffy.

Your times do seem somewhat slow even at that altitude.

I didnt meant that all of the power would be transferred. I was just giving him a basic idea. You need to read up on your manners. ;)

I have my own thread"whys my 1/4 mile so bad..help anyone?" I run right around the same times as you do and the exact same 60'. I dont know if we both have broken cars or if thats just what the 3.8 A4 w/3.08 runs in a higher elevation. I know I am not screwing up my launch though and my all time best 60' is 2.48(in my RS anyway otherwise 1.41) i did hit a 16.2 though for ET.

I have a 92 rally sport , my first camaro and maybe my fav even though its hard to beat my 94 Z-28. Its got a ss hood, z-28 wing and a few mods including gears and exhaust. At the track i think i hit a 2.2 60ft and a few 16.3's, on a engine with 130,000+ thats not so bad.

Sometimes its hard to tell why a car doesnt run like it should or why a couple of big mods dont better an et. I dont think im messing up my launch either in fact i think my launch is one of my strong points.

I think i may believe in my case that my cpu just needed a little more time to take in my mods because after driving the car lately its been feeling a lot more solid.

Im taking the car to the track next week and ill let you know my results.
