Nittos and BFG DRs are street tires IMO. Street trim would mean driving it 50 miles to the race track and racing it without any changes. You can do that on DRs easy... you cannot without a belt, therefore not its not in street trim.

u can do that on full blown out slicks. But they are in no way shape or form a street trim tire. Hit any water and your *** is grass. Even ET streets were hella scary with a little water.

People daily drive Nittos all the time, however not many people daily drive on "full blown out slicks".

Also, I race on a 28x9x15" ET Drag slick... I cut 1.477's..

On the street I'm going to roll on 29x13.5x15" Hoosier QTP's (DOT street legal)..

I plan to cut similar 60's on the street driving to the grocery store, picking up the gf, going to the local hot dog joint/movie theater, racing cars on street tires that cry about traction.

You get them groceries picked up pretty fast.

As much as I don't agree that nittos are not street tires even though they are radials. This is Stefan's challenge and if you don't want to be in it, then don't complain.

Maybe we can get other challenges going for this year as well to keep others interested. Best 60s/e.t./mph for stock internals, N/A, and power adder cars. There you got 9 different things right there.

Just don't launch as hard???

Well, here is an example of my bird on STREET tires.

-275 40 ZR 17 goodyear ZR40's in all four corners
-stock converter
-dry kit 120 shot
-2.5 inch exhaust
-more weight
-less mods

Launching OFF IDLE I spun through first, hit the nitrous, spun 2nd gear, spun third gear, spun into fourth getting traction around 80-85 mph.

Why would I even think about jeopardizing my safety?

I have EVEN MORE mods now
I have EVEN MORE power now

IMO, cars that make enough power to warrant the use of an ET street or slick at the track, do not have any business driving around on crappy street tires every day. Most LS1 enthusiasts you see use a Nitto 555R for their daily driver tires. It's a fun CHALLENGE, that CHALLENGES people to try something different, and puts up more of a CHALLENGE for some than it does others:)

Is this a good idea for everyone? No. I don't see how this thread went downhill so fast, with alot of 14 and 15 second car owners posting. I for one, last time I tried to spray the 100 shot at the track on a set of Kumho's, literally burnt-out to the 1/8th mile. I will stick with an ET street:)

those are all good ones... to be the top dog in the v6 world you seem to have to spend a few bucks...

and having a v6 and money is a slight oxymoron

when i can dead hook on street tires, I'll post my launch and 1/4 times, but that won't be for a while, since my 255-50-16's burn up easy enough w/ just my existing mods.

Off hand right now what is the time to beat for this street tire challenge? Not what we think we can run but the actual times

Do we have a list of like the top 3-5 people?

(maybe set a goal for myself )
