  • best way to do a burnout

    whats the best way to do a burnout with a 3.8 i tryed to always pell out but my tires well never smoke i have an open carrier but i dont think that it

    manual or auto? some people will disagree but i don't really think it's necessary to do a burnout before launching at the track. i normally just spin mine over a few times to clear the sand and crap off of them- when you start doing a real long smoky burnout the rubber on your tires starts to ball up leading to even worse traction despite the heat you put in them.

    if it's just to have fun, powerbrake... one foot on the brake, the other on the gas, add gas until tires are smoky. serves one.

        I think somethings wrong with my car. I cannot peel out at all. I was thinking it must be the 3.08 gears? I can still get good launches but it would be nice to spin the tires every now and then. Would 3.42 gears solve this problem or is their another way?

          I can't do a burnout powerbrake style(car bogs and dies) but I can leave alot of tread on the ground with a little water.

                  I've only done a real burnout once in this car...Its pointless really, fun yes, but pointless nonetheless.

                  4k dump clutch, hold brake and gas, watch smoke billow behind you. Easy as that.

                    if your drag racing on street tires dont do a burnout...if you must a real quick one to clean off your tires like rallyred said

                    if its just for fun the 3-4k dump/brake method is the way to go

                      4k dump clutch and then put your left foot on the brake!

                        My car stock to mildly modified could not do a burn out.

                        1 foot on brake, 1 foot on gas, floored and nothing

                        I needed a bit of mods

                        Then I could do it.

                        3:42's and LSD are a nice upgrade.

                        Line locks work VERY well for drag racers. They lock the front brakes only.
                        Race car - gone but not forgotten - 1997 firebird V6
                        nitrous et & mph: 12.168 & 110.95 mph, n/a 13.746 & 96.38 mph
                        2013 Dodge Challenger SRT8: 12.125, 116.45
                        2010 Ford Taurus SHO: no times yet

                          if your drag racing on street tires.....like everyone else said don't do a huge one jsut spin 'em over to clean them.i like to get sideways if you are just messing around, jsut hammer it and turn hard and it will break them loose in no time.or start off in a sand patch and punch it (it will spin them like crazy!) and don't worry my gf's v6 won't do a burnout either (but my bird will hahahaha)
